Just in case you haven’t heard, Slay the Spire 2 is now available in Early Access for PC and Mac through Steam, and it’s already become incredibly popular!
Right now, the game has around 430,000 players online at the same time, making it one of the most popular games on Steam. It’s currently competing with big hits like ARC Raiders, Apex Legends, and Rust in terms of player count.
The game has received around 5,000 reviews on Steam, and an impressive 97% of players give it a positive rating. It’s not just popular – people overwhelmingly love it.
Slay the Spire 2 is the sequel to Slay the Spire, a highly acclaimed and endlessly replayable card game where you build a unique deck with each playthrough.
Developer Mega Crit launched the sequel yesterday, on 5th March 2026, into Early Access.
The game will remain in Early Access for a considerable period, likely between one and two years, before the full version is released.
The big question for us, of course, is if and when the game will come to PS5.
Mega Crit, the developer of Slay the Spire, has announced they plan to release Slay the Spire 2 on as many platforms as they can, according to a recent Q&A on Discord (as shared on Reddit).
The team previously announced its plan to first launch on Steam with early access, and then release the full game on major consoles and mobile devices.
The game will initially launch on Steam, especially during its Early Access phase. Once that’s over, the developers, Mega Crit, plan to release it on other platforms, including the PlayStation 5.
The team used a similar approach with Slay the Spire: they released it on PC first, and then brought it to consoles and mobile devices afterwards.
Don’t expect Slay the Spire 2 on PlayStation 5 until around 2027, but it should be well worth the wait.
I absolutely loved the first game, so I’m super excited to jump into the sequel and see everything new they’ve added. Honestly, one of the things the first game needed was a visual upgrade, and it looks like they really delivered on that!
Are you looking forward to this game? Will you be playing it when it officially releases on consoles, or are you planning to try it out through Early Access? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
