Karl Urban, known for his role in ‘The Boys,’ has expressed continued interest in playing Judge Dredd again. He previously portrayed the character in the 2012 film ‘Dredd,’ which, while not initially a box office hit, has since become a favorite among fans.

I was listening to The Discourse podcast the other day, and Karl Urban – you know, Billy Butcher from The Boys – was on there talking about his new film, The Bluff. He mentioned how much he’d love to play Judge Dredd again, and honestly, that got me really excited! I’d definitely be up for seeing him back in that role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Taika Waititi will direct a new Judge Dredd movie slated for July 2025. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely Karl Urban will be involved in the project.

Karl Urban recently said on a podcast that he’d jump at the chance to play Judge Dredd again, saying he really enjoyed making the first film. Even if he isn’t involved, he’s happy as long as more Dredd stories are told. The Hollywood Reporter says Drew Pearce is writing the script for a new Judge Dredd project, but details about the plot are still secret.

Judge Dredd first appeared in the 1970s, created by writer John Wagner and artist Carlos Ezquerra. He came to the big screen in 1995 with Sylvester Stallone playing the iconic role, but the film wasn’t well-received. The 2012 movie starring Karl Urban was much more successful with critics. It currently has an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on reviews from critics, and a 72% audience score.
