The DC K.O. storyline has concluded, and DC Comics is already planning its next major event. Just a year and a half ago, Darkseid – one of the most powerful and dangerous villains in DC history – began an attack to increase his power. This began with the death of Darkseid’s physical form, which caused his energy to spread across the multiverse and land on Earth-Alpha. This new reality became the Absolute Universe, where Darkseid spent centuries gathering strength, preparing to attack the main DC Universe.
Darkseid, having already secured his dominance in the future, started to manipulate events in the present. Luckily, the heroes had a narrow window of opportunity to compete in the Omega Tournament and claim the Heart of Apokolips. This powerful artifact would grant the winner the title of King Omega – a cosmic being comparable to Darkseid himself. While heroes and villains have been battling to protect their world, Darkseid’s plans are far more complex than anyone suspects. Even as the Omega Tournament concludes, he’s already plotting his next devastating move.
Darkseid is Already Preparing for the Absolute Crisis

In DC K.O. #5, Superman unexpectedly gets back into the tournament after Lex Luthor defeats him. The Time Trapper revives Superman by giving him immense power, allowing him to beat Lex and become the King Omega of the DC Universe. Now incredibly powerful, Superman confronts Darkseid in an epic battle that jumps through time and space. The fight is fierce and relentless, but Darkseid ultimately gains the upper hand and forces Superman to flee into the past.
Initially, it seemed like Superman was losing the battle. However, he was actually feigning weakness to travel back to the beginning of time and gather all the universe’s energy. He was close to defeating Darkseid and rebuilding everything in his own way, but at the very last moment, Superman rejected Darkseid’s immense power. He decided that no single being should wield such force, so he shared it with everyone involved in the tournament. This restored the DC Universe to its original state and banished Darkseid to a distant point in time.
With the DC Universe returning to normal after recent events, Darkseid is secretly watching and plotting. He dismisses Superman’s actions as pointless, revealing that other universes within the DC multiverse are also holding their own Omega Tournaments. Darkseid is absorbing the energy from these tournaments, becoming even more powerful. He believes that when these universes are conquered, it will lead to a catastrophic crisis.
The Absolute Crisis: What We Know

It’s not unexpected that a major crisis is looming. Darkseid has always sought to expand his power and control beyond just the Absolute and Prime universes – his goal is to dominate the entire DC Multiverse. While specifics are limited, the Omega Tournaments are known to create vast amounts of Omega Energy. The more of this energy Darkseid collects, the more dangerous he becomes, potentially evolving into the most powerful being in the entire Divine Continuum.
The biggest mystery is what Pandora is up to with Darkseid. We haven’t seen her since she seemingly died in the Doomsday Clock storyline. However, considering her crucial role in shaping the current DC Universe, it’s possible she’s been brought back to life and is now working for Darkseid – either willingly or under his influence – to destroy everything. Major DC events, or ‘Crises,’ always lead to big changes, and given Darkseid’s desire for total control, it wouldn’t be surprising if he’s trying to weaken the DC Universe to make his conquest easier.
Although a major ‘Crisis’ event will likely happen eventually, it’s not expected in the near future. DC Comics has just started a new publishing plan called ‘Next Level,’ and it will probably be at least a year – possibly two – before they launch a story of that scale. However, keep an eye out for clues and setups in upcoming comics, as DC wouldn’t tease something like this without a plan. A new crisis is definitely coming, and it’s bound to have a huge impact on the DC Universe, though we don’t know exactly what that will be.
