Well, folks, it’s looking pretty grim for one of the funniest shows on Peacock. The creator just hinted that we likely won’t be getting any more episodes, and that’s a real shame. It seems Peacock is having a bit of a shake-up, with some shows taking off but many others getting cancelled after just a season or two. It’s especially disappointing considering how well Seth MacFarlane’s Ted is doing – the second season just launched and fans are absolutely loving it!
After the success of its first season, a second season of Ted was expected. However, according to creator Seth MacFarlane, there are currently no plans for future seasons. This comes as a surprise given how popular the second season has been, but the way the season concludes suggests MacFarlane and his team are focusing on other projects.
Why Ted Won’t Continue With Season 3
Both seasons of Ted have been well-received by critics, but it makes sense that Seth MacFarlane isn’t currently planning a third season, even though it might be unexpected. The show’s second season wasn’t guaranteed either; it was only greenlit after the positive reaction to the first. This likely means the story of Ted is now complete.
I’ve been really enjoying the Ted TV series! It’s designed to build on everything we loved in the Ted movies, and it sounds like Seth MacFarlane wants to focus on this world again. Without spoiling anything, season two really connects back to the films, bringing young John’s story full circle. It feels like they’ve wrapped up everything they wanted to explore with this take on John and Ted, set in that fun 1990s sitcom style. They’ve really told the complete story of his childhood now.
Ted to Continue With New Animated Series

Although the live-action Ted series has been canceled, the Ted universe will continue with a new animated show. Details about the animated series are still under wraps, but Seth MacFarlane explained that it’s being developed as a way to explore story ideas originally intended for a third movie. MacFarlane told ComicBook that the animated format was considered because creating a live-action series proved to be a massive undertaking.
MacFarlane explained that while the show is a half-hour comedy, it feels like a more cinematic, single-camera production. He compared creating each episode to making a scene from an Avengers movie, highlighting the extensive CGI and the incredible skill of the animators in both the US and Melbourne, Australia, who work to bring the show’s bear character to life. Considering all the effort involved, it appears the live-action version of the show is now complete.
