The cherished detective pair will grace our screens shortly, as the series 5 plans to bring Stephen Booth’s popular Cooper and Fry book series to life.
The upcoming TV show, named Cooper and Fry, is planned as a four-part series, each episode lasting two hours. It’s going to be based in the beautiful Peak District, focusing on the investigations of two unconventional young detectives with contrasting personalities.
As a movie reviewer, I’d put it this way: In the heart of this intriguing detective tale, we meet Ben Cooper, a charming local character skillfully portrayed by none other than Robert James-Collier, best known for his roles in Downton Abbey and The Inheritance. On the other hand, we have Diane Fry, a mysterious outsider whose performance is captivatingly delivered by Mandip Gill, familiar to many from Doctor Who and Curfew.
The summary for the show describes a group forced to collaborate on solving a series of unexplained murders. As their private lives become entangled, an unusual bond develops between them; however, maintaining this friendship will not always be straightforward.
Each episode within the series will be based on one of Booth’s books, with the initial season encompassing “Black Dog”, “Dying to Sin”, “Blind To the Bones”, and “Dancing with the Virgins”.
The series was introduced along with several fresh productions for channel 5, such as the thrillers “Missed Call” and “Number One Fan,” the psychological drama “The Family Secret,” and others.
Additionally, the network has revealed plans to continue hit shows The Hardacres and The Teacher with new episodes, and they’ve got something special lined up for The Madame Blanc Mysteries – a holiday-themed special!
Sebastian Cardwell, Deputy Chief Content Officer and Head of Scripted for Paramount UK, expressed his great pride in revealing our latest collection of scripted productions. These projects demonstrate the wide-ranging and ambitious narrative capabilities of Channel 5.
As a die-hard film enthusiast, I can’t wait to dive into a fresh wave of pulse-pounding thrillers and intricate mysteries that are sure to captivate my senses. But that’s not all! Some beloved series are making their grand comeback, promising an even more enthralling drama experience. We’re crafting a compelling lineup that’ll leave you craving for more!
Our chosen titles demonstrate our dedication to providing captivating, user-friendly British plays that strike a chord with audiences nationwide. Keep an eye out for more announcements about additional titles in the upcoming period.
