Todd Chrisley & Julie Chrisley Slam Criticism Over Parenting Chloe

Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley know best when it comes to their parenting style.

The former reality TV stars responded to criticism about their relationship with their 13-year-old daughter, Chloe Chrisley.

On the March 11th episode of their podcast, Chrisley Confessions 2.0, Todd Chrisley shared that they are raising his granddaughter, Chloe – the daughter of his son, Kyle Chrisley, and Angela Johnson – as their own child. He explained that they are focused on teaching her to be loving, respectful, and a good person.

We’re teaching our daughter important values like faith, the importance of family, and how to be kind and thoughtful,” he explained. “We believe the way we’re raising her is having a positive effect.”

Todd, who is a father to Chase (29), Savannah (28), and Grayson (19) with Julie, and to Lindsie (36) with his ex-wife Teresa Terry, highlighted that Chloe is celebrated every day at school.

He told Julie that people often say she avoids conflict and tries to calm things down. They also mention she’s the one students go to when someone new starts at school, and that she’s incredibly kind and thoughtful. He added that those are the qualities they’re instilling in her.

Julie believes it’s important for Chloe to understand she’s biracial, but they don’t make that the central part of how they raise her.

Julie explained that she has difficult but necessary conversations with her daughter about her racial identity, telling her, ‘You are both half white and half Black.’ She worries about how her daughter will be perceived by law enforcement, saying, ‘If you’re pulled over while driving at 16, the police might identify you as an African American teenage girl.’

And they are well aware that they’ll make missteps as parents.

And they are well aware that they’ll make missteps as parents.

We’re raising another child, and honestly, no parent is perfect,” Julie explained. “This is our sixth child, and I want to be clear that I love her completely. I would never intentionally do anything to hurt her. Ultimately, I’m her mother, and I’m committed to raising her the same way I’ve raised all my children, regardless of what others think.

Todd said Chloe is choosing to ignore what people are saying about her family.

I spoke with Chloe a couple of days ago and asked her how she felt about people’s perceptions of our actions—or inaction. She told me she wasn’t concerned with pleasing everyone, explaining that she lives her life to satisfy God, her family, and herself.

Todd, along with Julie, was released from prison in May after President Donald Trump pardoned them for their previous fraud convictions. He recently shared some insights into his daughter Chloe’s teenage years.

Oh my gosh, Todd was talking about Savannah on the podcast, and it just melted my heart! He said she’s thirteen now, and seriously, her personality is just exploding – it’s getting bigger and brighter every single day! I’ve always known she was special, but hearing him talk about it just confirms it. She’s just… amazing!

Despite playfully describing his youngest daughter as talkative, he clearly adored her. He often commented on how funny and personable she was, and how much he enjoyed their playful back-and-forth conversations. He emphasized their close and loving relationship.

Todd Chrisley is the head of the Chrisley family. Born in Georgia in April 1969 and raised in South Carolina, he first married Teresa Terry and together they had two children, Lindsie (born in 1989) and Kyle (born in 1991), before divorcing. In 1996, he married Julie Chrisley (born in South Carolina in January 1973), and they expanded their family with children Chase, Savannah, and Grayson, as well as adopting Kyle’s daughter, Chloe. The couple faced challenges, including Julie’s battle with and recovery from breast cancer in 2012.

Before becoming known for reality television, Todd built a successful real estate business, which he said generated the vast majority of the family’s income. Julie was working at a bank when she and Todd began dating. Their family life was chronicled in the show Chrisley Knows Best, which aired from 2014 to 2023 and led to spin-offs like Growing Up Chrisley and What’s Cooking With Julie?, along with other projects like family podcasts.

In 2022, Todd and Julie were convicted of fraud and tax crimes and initially sentenced to 12 and 7 years in prison, respectively. They maintained their innocence. However, in May 2025, President Donald Trump pardoned them, leading to their release from prison.

Lindsie Todd, born in September 1989, is the oldest child of Todd and Teresa. She went to Georgia State University where she met and later married Will Campbell in 2012. She graduated and had their son, Jackson, that same year. Two years later, the reality show Chrisley Knows Best debuted, featuring Lindsie and Will. The show documented the tension in their marriage, and they divorced in 2016, with Lindsie leaving the show in 2017.

Following the divorce, Lindsie became estranged from her family, and it wasn’t until 2022 that she publicly reunited with Todd, Julie, and Savannah on their respective podcasts. Todd later admitted on Chrisley Confessions that while the estrangement was unexpected, it was ultimately necessary.

However, the reconciliation didn’t last. By March 2025, Lindsie revealed on her podcast, The Southern Tea, that she hadn’t seen her father in a while, and the following month, she confirmed she was also estranged from her siblings. She explained on Cate & Ty Break It Down that despite a lack of alignment, there was no animosity, simply that they no longer fit into each other’s lives.

Following the pardon of Julie and Todd in May 2025, Lindsie posted a hopeful message on Instagram, stating, “With God all things are possible.”

Kyle, born in August 1991, is Todd’s oldest son from his marriage to Teresa. He became a father to Chloe in November 2012, with his ex-partner Angela Johnson, but Todd and Julie legally adopted her in 2016.

Although Kyle only appeared on the first season of Chrisley Knows Best (with a quick appearance in 2021), his previous arrests and complicated relationship with his family – which included periods of estrangement and reconciliation – often made news. He’s been open about his struggles with mental health and addiction, announcing on Facebook in 2019 that he was sober.

In 2021, Kyle married Ashley Nelson and became a stepfather to her children, Haiden and Mackenzie.

He hopes to rebuild his relationship with Todd and Julie after they are released from prison. In May 2025, he told TopMob News, “I know they can’t wait to get home and just be with family, and I’m going to remain hopeful that another reconciliation is possible.”

Chase Chrisley, born in June 1996, is the oldest child of Todd and Julie Chrisley. He’s known for appearing on the reality shows Chrisley Knows Best and Growing Up Chrisley alongside his family, particularly his sister Savannah from 2019-2022.

Chase was previously engaged to Emmy Medders, but they ended their relationship in 2023 after a period of on-again, off-again dating. He began dating Jodi Laine Fournerat later that year and frequently shares photos of her, and his grandmother Nanny Faye Chrisley, on his Instagram.

Following his parents’ imprisonment, Chase spoke about how the experience brought him and his siblings closer together. He told Extra in 2023, “When you get hit with something like this, we clung together, which is how we were raised. We’re still fighting.”

In January 2025, Chase was arrested in Atlanta on a simple battery charge after allegedly becoming intoxicated and slapping a bar manager who asked him to leave. His lawyers stated to People that the incident was exaggerated and that Chase did not assault anyone, and they were investigating the situation independently.

Beyond television, Chase is an entrepreneur, having launched both a candle brand and a roofing company.

Savannah Chrisley was born to Todd and Julie in August 1997. She began her career competing in pageants, winning Miss Tennessee Teen USA in 2016. She then gained further recognition through reality television, appearing on shows like Chrisley Knows Best, Growing Up Chrisley, The Masked Singer, and Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. Beyond television, Savannah works as a real estate agent in Tennessee, founded Good Girl RX, and hosts the Unlocked podcast.

Savannah became engaged to hockey player Nic Kerdiles in 2019, but they ended their relationship in 2020. Tragically, Kerdiles died in a motorcycle accident in 2023. She later dated Robert Shiver, but they split in April 2025 after approximately two years together.

While her parents were in prison, Savannah took legal custody of her siblings, Grayson and Chloe, and actively campaigned for their release. At the 2024 Republican National Convention, she shared a deeply personal moment, explaining that the numbers 72600019 and 72601019 were her parents’ identification numbers in the federal prison system, representing “my whole heart.”

Following a pardon from President Trump, Todd and Julie were released from prison, and Savannah shared footage of their emotional return home.

Grayson is the youngest child of Todd and Julie Chrisley. He first became well-known when the show Chrisley Knows Best began airing in 2014, just eight years after he was born in May 2006. Today, he’s a student at the University of Alabama, where he’s often recognized by other students.

He described the attention he receives on campus as “insane” in a February 2025 interview on Savannah’s podcast, Unlocked, noting it was more than he’d ever experienced before.

When Todd and Julie went to prison, their daughter Savannah took legal custody of Grayson and his sister, Chloe. While she emphasizes she isn’t their parent, she embraces her role as a guiding figure in their lives. In a July 2023 Instagram post, Savannah described being a “bonus parent” as incredibly challenging, acknowledging no one can replace their parents, but also expressing how much love and appreciation she receives from them, calling it the hardest but most rewarding job she’ll ever have.

Savannah and Grayson’s relationship has become particularly strong. On his 18th birthday in May 2024, Savannah shared on Instagram that while many people believe she saved him, he actually saved her.

Chloe came into Todd and Julie Chrisley’s lives when their son, Kyle, had a child with Angela Johnson in November 2012. Initially, they were her grandparents, but they officially adopted her four years later. Julie expressed her joy on Instagram in 2018, saying Chloe brought immense happiness to their family.

Fans followed Todd and Julie as they raised Chloe, nicknamed CoCo, on their reality show, Chrisley Knows Best. When Todd and Julie went to prison, their daughter, Savannah, stepped in as Chloe’s guardian.

On Chloe’s 11th birthday in November 2023, Savannah shared a heartfelt Instagram post, praising Chloe’s vibrant personality and the positive impact she has on everyone around her. She expressed her admiration for Chloe’s humor, carefree spirit, and kind heart.

After Todd and Julie received a pardon from President Trump, Savannah revealed Chloe’s cautious reaction, explaining that she was hesitant to get her hopes up. Savannah also shared her excitement about reuniting with her father and bringing him home to Chloe in May 2025.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always admired strong women, and Faye Chrisley – or ‘Nanny’ as everyone knows her – is definitely one of them. She’s Todd’s mom, and he often shares how much she means to him – he posted on Instagram in 2021 saying she fills his heart with love, hope, and confidence! Nanny grew up in South Carolina, born in September 1944, and she and her husband, Gene, a wonderful army veteran, raised their sons Todd, Randy, and Derrick. Sadly, little Derrick passed away as a baby, and Gene passed away in 2012.

On ‘Chrisley Knows Best,’ Nanny really stole the show. She’s hilarious, loves spending time with her sister Frances (who we sadly lost in 2022), and always has a fun story to tell, whether she’s at the casino or enjoying a glass of wine with family. She truly knows how to live life to the fullest!

But life hasn’t always been easy for Nanny. She’s faced some tough times, including her sons Todd and Julie’s legal issues, and in 2021, she was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Thankfully, she’s a fighter and shared in 2023 that she’s in remission and doing well.

Her outlook on life is just inspiring. She always says, ‘The world don’t always give you a good deck of cards to play with, so you play with them the best you can.’ And that’s exactly what she does – she gets up, dusts herself off, and keeps moving forward. It’s a beautiful lesson for all of us.
