You Won’t Believe All the Celebs Who Got Their Start on Law & Order

Law & Order has helped launch the careers of some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.

Indeed, we’re not referring to established stars from the popular NBC crime drama such as Anthony Anderson, Sam Waterson, or Benjamin Bratt. It might shock you to learn that several TV and movie actors have graced the screen on this procedural over the years, long before they became familiar faces in households everywhere.

Did you realize that Sarah Paulson, who later became famous for winning Emmys and gracing our screens in popular TV shows, made her debut as an actress in 1994, playing a teenager involved in a scandalous affair with the new husband of her murdered mother? Interestingly, around two decades before his portrayal of Tommy Lee in the successful 2022 Hulu miniseries “Pam & Tommy”, Sebastian Stan had already acted as a boy who was abducted and raised by his captor.

Stars such as Julia Roberts, Ellen Pompeo, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jennifer Garner, who have since become household names, made appearances on the show “Law & Order” during their rise to fame. This also includes Adam Driver, Sam Rockwell, and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman.

However, Dick Wolf’s revolutionary drama series doesn’t merely serve as a stepping stone for aspiring actors in Hollywood. In fact, many experienced performers have decided to make this show their long-term residence, following years within the entertainment industry.

Following appearances on shows such as “True Blood” and “Necessary Roughness”, actor Mehcad Brooks joined the cast of “Law & Order” in 2022 to assist in solving New York City’s most gruesome crimes. Regrettably, the character Detective Jalen Shaw will not be making a comeback for the upcoming 25th season.

The actor surprised fans by unexpectedly departing Law & Order after three seasons this summer.

Without a doubt, Brooks’ experience on the show, along with his affection towards his fellow cast members and team, is something he will always cherish in memory.

In April, the actor announced on Instagram that Season 24 was over. He described it as an extraordinary, intense, and profoundly grounding journey. It was a joy and honor to act alongside such gifted and dedicated artists and such a brave crew who genuinely care about the work we’re creating together.

To pay tribute to Brooks’ stint on “Law & Order”, let’s reminisce about the celebrities you might have forgotten appeared as guests throughout its run. Scroll through the images in the gallery below for a nostalgic journey!
