Maya Hawke Details Married Life With Husband Christian Lee Hutson

Married life is no strange thing.

It’s been just under a month since Maya Hawke and Christian Lee Hutson got married on Valentine’s Day in New York City, and the Stranger Things star says married life has been “absolutely fantastic” so far.

At the premiere of her new film, Wishful Thinking, on March 12th, Maya told People she felt incredibly fortunate and happy. She added that she couldn’t be more thankful.

She told Page Six at the event that she felt incredibly fortunate to have found her best friend, someone she can truly confide in.

Maya and Christian turned their long-time friendship into a romance while Maya was making her 2024 album, Chaos Angel. They’ve mostly kept their relationship private, so fans were surprised – though not entirely – to find out they’d gotten married on Valentine’s Day, with the news breaking on the same day as the wedding.

Oh my gosh, did you SEE her dress?! It was absolutely breathtaking – a classic white ball gown, and the veil was just… perfect. And then, a gorgeous feathery white coat! She looked like a dream. Christian, of course, looked incredibly handsome in a traditional black tux, crisp white shirt, and vest, with the sweetest little floral boutonniere. They were seriously the most beautiful couple ever, I have the pictures saved like a million times!

Maya’s parents, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke, were at the wedding, along with several of her “Stranger Things” co-stars like Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, and Finn Wolfhard.

Before their wedding, Christian and Maya only confirmed their engagement in 2025. During an interview, when Maya was called Christian’s fiancée, he just said, “Yeah.”

Maya has generally kept her romantic life private, but she recently revealed a heartwarming story about how she and Christian became a great match.

In a 2024 interview on The Zach Sang Show, she strongly encouraged dating your friends, calling it “the best.” She explained that friends already understand you as a person – including your past relationships and emotions – making it a natural fit.

And making their partnership even more magical was being able to collaborate musically.

She described the feeling of being truly understood by someone you’re falling for – someone who inspires you to create art, even about past loves – as “pretty amazing.”
