Techland’s games often offer extensive playtime – as a matter of fact, completing the main storyline in Dying Light 2 Stay Human took at least 20 hours, and when you factor in additional side content, it could stretch up to 80 hours. In contrast, Dying Light: The Beast isn’t quite as extensive, but Tymon Smektala, the franchise director, suggests that a story duration of about 20 hours strikes the right balance.
He also verified that “extra tasks” or side activities add up to at least another 20-30 hours. He believes their game stands out significantly in the market and aspires for it to have a strong presence, similar to AAA games. He shared this viewpoint with GamesRadar, noting that due to its growth over the past few months, he feels it merits such recognition.
Given that the developer views Dying Light: The Beast as essentially the third installment of Dying Light, it follows logically. Initially, it started with a more modest aim, but the prospect of reintroducing the original game’s protagonist, Kyle Crane, sparked excitement within the team due to the potential stories and experiences it could offer.
The action-adventure game titled Dying Light: The Beast will be available starting August 22nd for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with releases on PS4 and Xbox One coming later in the year. In this expansion, players take on the role of Crane as he breaks free from years of imprisonment to avenge himself against the enigmatic Baron, all while possessing abilities similar to the infected but requiring shelter during nighttime.
