Adrian Grenier might need to indulge in like $8 worth of Jarlsberg.
He was a little disappointed not to be included in the upcoming Devil Wears Prada sequel, especially since he’d played Nate Cooper – Anne Hathaway’s character’s boyfriend, a chef – in the original 2006 film.
Adrian told Page Six in a March 13 interview that he enjoys the movie even though he wasn’t asked to be in the sequel. While he was disappointed not to be included, he understands his character, Nate, wasn’t popular with everyone, which could be why he wasn’t called back.
He would have gladly returned for a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada, and he’s also thinking about what he wants to do next.
The actor hinted that a film centered around the character Nate could happen, saying it would be a great direction for the story to take.
The mixed reactions to his character were a major talking point after the first movie, with many fans jokingly suggesting Nate was actually the villain, rather than Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly. While Adrian didn’t understand this viewpoint initially, he now realizes there might be some validity to it.

He told Entertainment Weekly in 2021 that he was surprised by all the memes. He hadn’t really considered why people were reacting that way until he thought about it more. He realized he might have been as immature as his character, Nate, and that Nate was very self-centered, focused only on himself and not supportive of Andy’s career.
After thinking things over carefully, the former star of Entourage said, they now understand that point of view.
As for Anne, she takes issue with the idea of Nate being the villain of the story.

She explained on Watch What Happens Live in 2022 that they were both young and still learning. While he acted immaturely, she admitted she also made mistakes when she was in her twenties and has since matured.
She explained that everyone makes mistakes, and she definitely doesn’t want to be remembered for something bad she did when she was younger. Because of that, she doesn’t see Nate as a bad person.
It’s still unknown who will play the antagonist in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which comes out in theaters on May 1st. Read on to find out about other movies being released this year.
