See Kate Middleton’s First Tiara Appearance of 2026

Kate Middleton is taking the crown—again.

Princess Kate wore the Lover’s Knot tiara, previously owned by Queen Mary, when she joined Prince William at a state banquet. The banquet honored Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, at Windsor Castle on March 18th.

For the elegant event, Kate wore an emerald green dress by Andrew Gn along with a headpiece. She completed the look with earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II and her official royal decorations, including a sash and star.

As a style enthusiast, I’ve always loved seeing how royal women use accessories to connect with the past – and Kate Middleton is no exception! While the tiara is famously associated with Princess Diana, who wore it beautifully, it’s become a real go-to piece for Kate as well. She’s worn it over a dozen times since first stepping out with it in 2015, proving it’s a firm favorite in her collection.

The diadem was created in 1913 at the request of Queen Mary, modeled after a similar piece owned by Princess Augusta of Hesse-Kassel. Notably, Princess Augusta later became the Duchess of Cambridge – a title Kate Middleton now also holds – back in 1818.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! She wore the Lover’s Knot tiara again! It’s seriously the most stunning thing ever – nineteen arches and all those gorgeous, perfect pearls! The last time she wore it was back in September when she had President Trump and Melania over for that fancy dinner. I have pictures everywhere, obviously. It just…completes her, you know?

You know, it’s always thrilling to see a royal heirloom brought back to life! Just two months ago, I was so excited to witness the return of Queen Victoria’s stunning Oriental Circlet tiara. It hadn’t been worn in over 20 years, and it was truly a ‘tiara moment’ when it finally graced the scene again.

This stunning crown has a fascinating history. Originally created in 1853 for Prince Albert, it was covered in around 2,600 diamonds and over a dozen opals. Later, in 1901, Queen Alexandra, the wife of Victoria’s son, replaced the opals with rubies. The jewelry firm Garrard & Co. explained that this change was made because of old beliefs and superstitions about the opals themselves.

According to the jeweler’s records, Alexandra appears to have worn the crown just once before giving it to Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, who then passed it on to her daughter, Elizabeth II. Queen Elizabeth II last wore the crown during a visit to Malta in 2005.
