Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Unveils a New Release Ahead of Season 2 Finale

I’ve been really enjoying the current anime season, especially the second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. It’s a bit shorter than I anticipated, only ten episodes total, but the story is picking up nicely. We see Frieren and her companions continuing their trek north, now that Fern has officially become a First Class Mage – a requirement for traveling through that area. Eight episodes are already out, and we’re deep into the Divine Revolte Arc, which fans have been loving. With the season finale coming up soon, TOHO Animation recently released a new music video for the opening theme, “lulu,” performed by Mrs. GREEN APPLE.

This anime is well-known for its fantastic opening and ending songs, as well as its overall music, and this new song is no exception. The special video features the complete version of the song, longer than the 90-second opening we hear in the show. It’s a montage of clips from the second season, showcasing all the characters who’ve appeared so far – not just the leads.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End Season 2 Will Conclude in March 2026

The second season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End will finish airing on March 27th, 2026. The anime recently completed the ‘Continued Northern Travels’ arc and took a one-week break. During this arc, Frieren and her companions faced several dangerous monsters, but the challenges ahead will be even greater. People in the northern lands are still recovering from demon attacks, and the situation will become more difficult as the group gets closer to their final destination – a place connected to the spirits of the deceased.

I’m so hooked on this anime! Even though the Demon King is gone, monsters are still a huge problem, especially up North where his castle used to be. The story is now diving into the Divine Revolte Arc, and our heroes are heading towards the Rufen Region on the Northern Plateau. They’ve been asked to take down a demon that wiped out a village, and it’s awesome because they run into some familiar faces from the First Class Mage Exam along the way! Turns out, the demon they’re after is Revolte – a seriously powerful character, and one of the biggest threats in the whole series!

The current story arc is brief, lasting only six chapters, which means the anime’s second season might start the longer ‘Golden Land Arc’ even if it can’t cover the entire story. This arc, which spans 28 chapters, focuses on the group meeting a fellow mage exam participant and uncovering mysteries within the fortified city of Weise. Season 2 premiered on January 16, 2026, with new episodes released on Crunchyroll every Friday at 7:00 AM Pacific Time, soon after they air in Japan. While Season 2 is also available on Netflix, it’s currently limited to certain Asian countries, and there’s no word yet on a release date for the USA.
