Okay, so this is interesting. I just heard from someone involved with the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series that they’re also working on Spider-Man: Brand New Day! The trailer for the Spider-Man project dropped and fans immediately started buzzing, and now we have confirmation that there’s a connection. It’s good to see some shared talent between these Marvel projects – hopefully, it means a consistent creative vision.
The next Spider-Man movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will follow the hero as he balances his successes fighting crime with the challenges of keeping his personal life private. Starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Sadie Sink, the film—directed by Destin Daniel Cretton—is currently known as Brand New Day.
Another actor from the Marvel Cinematic Universe has confirmed they appear in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. Zabryna Guevara, who plays Sheila Rivera, shared on Instagram that she makes a very brief appearance in the show’s trailer, playfully asking fans if they could spot her.
Her brief appearance sparked a lot of speculation among fans. In the series Born Again, Sheila works for Mayor Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin (played by Vincent D’Onofrio). But a trailer for the upcoming Brand New Day shows her handing Spider-Man the key to New York City, suggesting she may have become mayor after Kingpin. The showrunner for Born Again, Dario Scardapane, has hinted that the Kingpin storyline will wrap up with season two, which makes Sheila’s appearance in the trailer both less shocking and more interesting.
The suggestion of Sheila taking over from Fisk even reached actor Dominic D’Onofrio. When a fan tweeted him about it, he initially replied with a simple “Love it.” He later explained that he hadn’t confirmed anything, but added that if the rumor was true, he would be thrilled.
D’Onofrio said he only heard someone say ‘I love it’ once, and that was the first time he knew anything about the show’s potential future. He emphasized that he’s always the last to find out about plans for the show – or any show, for that matter – and that he focuses solely on the work he’s currently doing. He insists that’s completely true.
The second season of Born Again is coming out later this month, and it’s still unclear exactly how Wilson Fisk’s character will be affected. However, Sheila will be the one giving Spider-Man a crucial piece of information in Brand New Day, which makes it seem like actor Vincent D’Onofrio might have some insight into what happens that he hasn’t shared yet.
I’m so excited! We’re finally going to find out what happens with Fisk in the new Daredevil: Born Again series, which comes out on March 24, 2026. And just a couple of months later, on July 31, 2026, we’ll see Guevara in Spider-Man: Brand New Day! It’s going to be an amazing year for Marvel fans.
