The creator of Dragon Ball Super is back with a new Dragon Ball manga, and has shared a first preview while fans eagerly await the anime’s return later this year. As the Dragon Ball franchise celebrates 40 years since Akira Toriyama’s original manga debuted in Shonen Jump, several new projects are in the works. These include a complete remake of the Dragon Ball Super anime, along with a new story arc, but progress on the manga had stalled until now.
Following Akira Toriyama’s recent passing, the Dragon Ball Super manga is currently paused. However, artist Toyotaro is still creating new Dragon Ball content. He’s returning with a special manga release featured in a book celebrating the S.H. Figuarts collectible line. Shueisha announced this on the official Dragon Ball website and has shared a sneak peek of Toyotaro’s new work.
When Is Dragon Ball Super’s Manga Coming Back?

Toyotaro is releasing a short, three-page manga connected to the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball figure line. While fans are hoping for a full continuation of the manga, a return doesn’t seem impossible. Toyotaro hinted at this on social media, saying everything he’s working on is leading to the series’ comeback, but so far, no specific plans have been announced.
While the Dragon Ball Super anime is still being made, the manga is on hold following Akira Toriyama’s passing in 2024. Toyotaro recently created a short story using some of Toriyama’s last ideas, but the future of the manga is uncertain. There’s still potential for more Dragon Ball Super stories, but it will be challenging to continue without Toriyama’s guidance.
What to Know for Dragon Ball Super’s Anime Return

Fans can look forward to a big return of Dragon Ball Super! First, a remastered version of the Dragon Ball Super: Beerus arc, originally seen in the TV anime, will be released with improved visuals and sound. This will be followed by a completely new anime series adapting the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ arc from the manga. Both are expected to premiere this Fall.
A new Dragon Ball Super anime, titled The Galactic Patrol, is in production! While we don’t have a release date yet, the story will introduce Moro, a powerful new villain, and continue to explore Goku’s Ultra Instinct transformation. This anime will adapt the remaining arcs from the Dragon Ball Super manga, so fans can expect the manga to return soon to ensure a smooth continuation of the anime series.
