I watched as Hell’s Paradise came back for its second season in early 2026. It picked up right where things left off, showing what happened after those incredibly harsh trials on the island. Gabimaru, the survivors, and even the executioners were still searching for the legendary Elixir of Life – it’s a pretty intense quest!
Directed by Kaori Makita and animated by MAPPA, the show centers on an assassin who forms a shaky partnership with fellow prisoners as they navigate a progressively perilous situation called the Tensen.
I’m completely hooked as we near the end of this second part! The story is really starting to unravel the mysteries of the island, and I’m fascinated by how it’s explaining the life energy system – Shinsenkyo – through the biology of the Tensen and the principles of Tao. Plus, we’re learning so much more about the Elixir itself, which is just incredible!

What’s the plot of Hell’s Paradise season 2?
Hell’s Paradise season 2 picks up where the anime left off, continuing the story of Gabimaru, a notorious ninja. He’s on a perilous quest to find the mythical Elixir of Life on a deadly island, hoping to win his freedom from execution.
I’m so excited for the new season! It’s going to cover the rest of the Lord Tensen Arc and most of the Hōrai Arc, which means we’ll finally see what happens with the survivors from the first two landing parties as they try to sneak into the city of Hōrai. It’s based on volumes six through nine of the manga, so there’s a lot of story to dive into!
The team quickly encounters the Lord Tensen – seven powerful, immortal beings created from a mix of human and plant life, and able to heal rapidly – sparking a series of intense fights. As the battles continue, they start to learn the island’s secrets and discover the Tensen’s evil scheme, which involves experimenting on humans.
Hell’s Paradise is available to watch now on Crunchyroll.
