After a final delay, Sad Cat Studios’ game, Replaced, is coming out next month, and IGN has just released a lengthy new gameplay video. It continues the story right after the free demo, showing R.E.A.C.H. breaking away from Tempest and exploring the central hub of Phoenix City, known as The Station.
He finds Susan, who spends her time at the arcade while her mother works in the mines. They chat, and after he explains he needs binoculars, she says she’ll consider helping if he can find a rectifier. Later, he has a difficult conversation with Tempest before finally meeting with the Council, led by the Matriarch and Ironwood.
R.E.A.C.H. wants to help, but is asked to first finish up some existing tasks and then investigate the Station. As she does, players can talk to different characters and make choices in conversations to uncover details about Ironwood and understand what Tempest meant by her comments about Prospero. Soon after speaking with Tempest, R.E.A.C.H. finds some electrical parts and brings them back to Susan.
She’s not ready to hand over the binoculars just yet, challenging him to a high-score duel in an arcade game instead. While there’s no fighting, this section really shows how much care went into the game’s details, from the lively market to the glowing arcade lights.
