Crimson Desert is off to a fantastic start! After selling two million copies on its first day, it quickly reached three million copies sold. This is especially impressive considering over three million players had already added it to their wishlists before the game even launched.
The game is available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and it recently had over 248,000 players online simultaneously on Steam. Reviews have been mostly positive, with a Metascore of 78 based on 93 critics. Players generally enjoy exploring the world, the game’s graphics (especially on PC), and the combat system. However, some criticisms focus on the story, characters, and side quests, as well as a few unusual elements within the game. You can find more details in our full review.
Pearl Abyss has been actively working to improve the game. The newest update includes a private storage area at Howling Hill Camp, giving players a place to keep extra items. They’ve also reduced the damage dealt by some bosses and enemies, and added more Abyss Nexuses to make getting around the world easier.
The developers are continuing to refine the game’s controls, particularly for players using a controller, and are replacing some assets that were originally created using AI. We haven’t received any information yet about whether mounts like the dire wolf and bear will be available permanently, or if the dragon’s cooldown timers will be removed. Keep an eye out for future updates on these features.
We are grateful to share #CrimsonDesert has sold through 3 million copies worldwide. To everyone who has stepped into Pywel and shared this journey with us, thank you.
Your feedback continues to help shape the experience, and we will keep working to make the journey ahead even…— Crimson Desert (@CrimsonDesert_) March 24, 2026
