Why Pregnant Sienna Miller Says Having Babies in Her 40s “Is the Best”

Sienna Miller has unlocked a new appreciation for motherhood.  

Actress Naomi Scott, known for her role in 21 Bridges, is expecting her third child – and second with partner Oli Green. She recently shared how having children later in life, in her 40s, has been a wonderful experience.

Sienna recently told Glamour magazine that having children later in life has been easier. In an interview published on March 23rd, she explained that after having a baby at 29, and then again at 42 and 44, she feels less conflicted and more focused than she did when she was younger and trying to balance many different priorities.

She shared that she finds simple joy in reading in bed by 9 p.m., and feels she now has the perfect reason to prioritize those peaceful moments. She feels more stable and content with her life now.

Naomi Watts, who starred in Anatomy of a Scandal and is a mother to 2-year-old daughter with her husband Oli, as well as 13-year-old Marlow with ex-boyfriend Tom Sturridge, recently shared that she felt much more peaceful during this pregnancy compared to her first one, when she worried constantly about the future.

She described her thirties as a confusing time, filled with wanting to find stability and start a family. But she felt that by your forties, you gain self-awareness and become less concerned with other people’s opinions. She sees this as a positive shift towards being more secure and questioned why society has different expectations for women than for men, pointing out that older fathers aren’t typically criticized.

Sienna pointed out how we often talk about getting older as if our forties were ancient history. She believes this idea is pushed on us to make money from our worries, and we need to challenge it.

True to her words, the Golden Globe nominee has embraced a new outlook on aging.  

She pointed out how fortunate people are to grow old. She views becoming pregnant later in life as a natural boost – a ‘biohack’ – because of the positive effects of pregnancy hormones and increased blood flow. She fully embraces the idea.

Sienna had more than one reason for wanting another baby. She also shared that she had previously frozen her eggs, hoping to improve her chances of conceiving again.

She shared that getting pregnant was a huge relief, especially since she was in her late 30s. It felt like a weight lifted off her shoulders.

The actress, known for her role in Layer Cake, has previously celebrated important moments in her current relationship. She openly embraced her love for Oli, who is 14 years younger, back in 2022.

Sienna said in Vogue last December that while she understands people might find their age difference unusual, their relationship has been filled with love and happiness. She believes you can’t control who you fall in love with, and she knows she certainly can’t.

Gisele Bündchen, who has two children, Benjamin and Vivian, with her former husband Tom Brady, had a son with Joaquim Valente in early 2025 when she was 44 years old. She married Valente, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor, that December.

Hilary shared with Women’s Health in 2025 that she wished she’d started a family sooner. She had frozen her eggs a decade before becoming pregnant. While she didn’t intentionally wait until age 47, she felt that it turned out to be the perfect time, for many different reasons, and a special period in her life.

She explained that she parents much differently now than she would have even a few years ago. She’s become more patient and understanding, and approaches parenting with a renewed and different focus.

Claire Danes, who already has two sons, Cyrus and Rowan, with her husband Hugh Dancy, was surprised to discover she was pregnant with her third child in her mid-40s.

Let me tell you, navigating fertility can be such an emotional rollercoaster. I remember calling my doctor, completely overwhelmed with tears, after finally having my baby, Rowan. It was a total breakdown moment, honestly! It wasn’t planned, and I was just shocked it could even happen at 44. It just goes to show you, life can surprise you, even when you least expect it.

Daughter Shay joined the family in 2023.

In March 2026, Gwen Stefani shared on the Hallow podcast how much she longed for another child. ‘I was desperate to have a baby, I really was,’ she said. ‘But I couldn’t, and I felt like I was getting too old.’ She recalled a touching moment with her eldest son, Kingston, who told her he wished she could have another baby. Stefani sadly explained that she was too old to have another child.

Kingston’s reaction was to begin praying, she detailed.  

Stefani shared that she found out she was pregnant with Apollo about four weeks after the initial event, calling it a ‘full-on gift.’ She also has a son, Zuma, with her ex-husband, Gavin Rossdale, and was 44 years old when she had Apollo naturally.

In May 2021, Jennifer Love Hewitt announced she and her husband, Brian Hallisay, were expecting their third child. The 9-1-1 actress shared the happy news with her fans, saying she was thrilled to finally let everyone know.

In 2019, actress Milla Jovovich shared on Instagram that she felt both incredibly happy and very scared when she found out she was pregnant 13 weeks prior. She and her husband, Paul W. S. Anderson, were expecting a child two years after she’d had an emergency abortion. Because of her age and the previous loss, she was hesitant to become too attached to this pregnancy right away.

Rainbow baby Osian joined older siblings Ever and Dashiel in February 2020. 

Alanis Morissette announced to her fans that she was pregnant at age 44. She and her husband, Mario “Souleye” Treadway, already parents to Ever and Onyx, welcomed their daughter Winter in August 2019.

Rashida Jones, known for her role in Parks and Recreation, and musician Ezra Koenig had a son in August 2018. Jones was 42 years old at the time.

At the 2018 Emmy Awards, TopMob News discovered that Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie Hunter, were expecting their third child. Sophie was 40 years old at the time. The couple are also parents to sons Christopher, Hal, and Finn.

Former Real Housewives of Orange County star Gretchen Rossi and her partner, Slade Smiley, happily announced they were expecting a baby after facing years of difficulty getting pregnant. Their daughter, Skylar, was born in July 2019.

Model and reality TV personality Brigitte Nielsen announced in 2018, at age 54, that she was pregnant with her fifth child. Their daughter, Frida, was born in June and joined her older brothers: Raoul, Douglas, Killian, and Julian.

I remember when Halle Berry welcomed her daughter, Nahla, when she was 41 – such a beautiful moment. And then, five years later, she expanded her family with her son, Maceo, born in 2013. It just goes to show you, family comes in all timings, and it’s always wonderful!

Following the loss of their son Jett two years prior, actress Kelly Preston and her husband John Travolta welcomed another baby boy, Benjamin, in November 2010. He joined their daughter, Ella, completing their family.

Many of you know she’s a mom to Bella and Connor with Tom Cruise, but I remember so clearly when she and Keith Urban welcomed their first biological daughter, Sunday, back in 2008 – Nicole was 41 at the time. And then, just a couple of years later, they expanded their family again with their second daughter, Faith, who arrived via surrogacy. It’s such a beautiful story of family, however it’s created!

Susan Sarandon had her first child, Eva Amurri, in 1985 with filmmaker Franco Amurri. Later, she had two sons, Jack and Miles, with actor Tim Robbins, welcoming Jack at age 42 and Miles at 45.
