Following the release of its second season on Netflix, the live-action adaptation of One Piece is generating buzz online. Producers Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements (through Tomorrow Studios) previously expressed their ambition for the show to continue for a full 12 seasons, with Adelstein stating there’s enough source material to support that length.
I’ve been following the talk about how long the live-action One Piece series might last, but it’s important to remember that a lot of the speculation about 12 seasons is probably unrealistic for Netflix. When The Hollywood Reporter asked showrunner Joe Tracz about these hopes, he shared that the team is just grateful to be working on a project they’re passionate about. He said they really want to be able to adapt all the stories they love from the manga and anime.
Will Netflix’s One Piece Get 12 Seasons of Live-Action?
When asked about plans for the future of the show, Tracz jokingly said they were hoping to train the next generation – their own children – to become showrunners, ensuring One Piece continues even after he retires. He emphasized how much the team loves working on the series and wants to adapt all of the beloved storylines. When asked specifically about a third season and beyond, Tracz shared further details.
Tracz expressed enthusiasm for the show’s narrative, hoping it can continue. He explained that the cast and crew are eager to explore future storylines and have many exciting ideas. Ultimately, whether they get to continue depends on audience support and whether the show is renewed. While the team is passionate about making more, they’re remaining cautiously optimistic about its future.
Is One Piece Getting Season 4 With Netflix?

While fans are eager for Season 12, it’s still uncertain if One Piece will even make it past Season 3 on Netflix. Season 3 was announced before Season 2 premiered and is currently being made. There’s no confirmation about a fourth season yet, but the live-action series performed well, attracting millions of viewers globally. Though viewership has dipped slightly since the first episode, it’s generally improving, and the production team is aiming to create future episodes more quickly.
Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the original series, has shared his vision for how the live-action adaptation could conclude with the cast, even outlining a specific ending. If this happens, the show could have a fulfilling conclusion well before a hypothetical twelfth season. Ultimately, the series’ continuation depends on both fan support and Netflix’s willingness to keep it going with new seasons.
