Adam Sandler To Lead Netflix Thriller Remake ‘Time Out’ From Director Scott Cooper

Adam Sandler is set to star in a new psychological thriller coming to Netflix. The film is a remake of a well-regarded movie from the early 2000s. While there were reports that Sandler took over the role from Christian Bale, production is now underway with a strong team of actors and filmmakers.

Netflix announced that Adam Sandler will star in a remake of the 2001 French film L’Emploi du temps, now titled Time Out. Sandler will play Vincent, a recently unemployed man who tries to hide his job loss from his family. As his lies grow, he risks everything, raising the question of how far someone will go to protect their loved ones. The film also features Willem Dafoe, Gaby Hoffmann, F. Murray Abraham, Steve Zahn, and Adam Horovitz.

I’m really excited about Scott Cooper’s next project! Knowing his work on films like Black Mass, The Pale Blue Eye, and even the documentary Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, I have a lot of faith in his vision. He told Netflix he first saw the original film back in 2001, and feels now is the perfect time to revisit its themes – especially considering how many of us are questioning our jobs and what gives our lives meaning. With so much worry about work these days, Time Out could be a really powerful and relevant film, if it can capture the spirit of the original.

More to come.
