Corey Feldman is feeling excluded from a powerful moment at the 2026 Oscars.

It was so moving to see so many of Hollywood come together to honor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele, who we lost in December. I was really curious, though, about why one of the stars of Stand By Me wasn’t at the tribute event on March 15th, and he recently explained his reasons for not being there.

Corey, 54, described the situation to Entertainment Weekly as feeling like a family gathering he wasn’t included in, but he added that he wouldn’t dwell on those feelings.

He explained that he felt the same sadness as everyone else about how things turned out, especially considering the recent re-release of his film Stand By Me. It was particularly difficult, he added, because they all had hoped Rob would be able to join them for the tour.

As a lifestyle expert, I was so thrilled to see Stand By Me celebrated at the Oscars! It’s amazing to think that film is turning 40 – it really doesn’t feel that long ago it came out. And it was wonderful seeing Jerry O’Connell and Wil Wheaton there – those guys were fantastic in it, and it brought back so many memories!

Corey shared that they all wished they’d had a chance to say goodbye personally. Since that wasn’t possible, they’re honoring his memory and celebrating his work through the current tours and interviews, hoping people will take the time to appreciate his lasting contributions to film and art.

He also expressed hope that they could honor him with one final showing on the big screen, where his work truly deserves to be seen.

Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on December 14th, both having suffered fatal stab wounds. Their son, Nick Reiner, 32, was arrested later that day and charged with the first-degree murder of both parents. He has pleaded not guilty. The couple also had two other children: Jake, 34, and Romy, 27.

It seemed perfect that Billy Crystal took the lead. He and Rob Reiner—who is also the father of Tracy Reiner, age 61, with his late ex-wife Penny Marshall—had been friends for 51 years, ever since Billy guest-starred on Rob’s TV show, All in the Family.

Keifer Sutherland and Demi Moore also participated, along with Daphne Zuniga and John Cusack, who starred in The Sure Thing. Annette Bening, of The American President, and Michael McKean and Christopher Guest, best known for This Is Spinal Tap, completed the impressive lineup.

The evening’s impressive lineup of guests also included Meg Ryan, who starred alongside Billy in When Harry Met Sally, and his Princess Bride co-stars Carol Kane, Mandy Patinkin, Carey Elwes, and Fred Savage.

Billy shared that the loss of his friend is profound, and he wanted to let the millions of fans worldwide know how much joy Rob got from their appreciation of his films. It’s just heartbreaking. I’ve always been a big fan of the actress, and I was so shocked to hear about what happened to her dad, Rob Reiner.
