Marathon has been making a series of adjustments to improve game balance, and the Biotoxic Disinjector is the most recent item to be changed. Joe Ziegler, the game director, announced the adjustment to players through Steam, explaining it’s part of an effort to make Tau Ceti IV fairer for everyone.
We’re adjusting the Biotoxic Disinjector because it’s currently too powerful. We’re immediately reducing its damage to balance gameplay. While we plan to continue tweaking the Biotox in the future, and this damage reduction might not be permanent, we want to address its current dominance right away.
That change significantly reduces the weapon’s damage by 35%, which could really impact your gameplay if you’ve been using it to quickly defeat enemies with lasers and grenades. While still powerful, it might now require a bit more skill and careful planning to use effectively.
If you’ve already unlocked the Disinjector by completing Cryo Archive, you should be able to easily confuse your opponents thanks to improvements to things like the Recon Shell’s Echo Pulse.
Even though the recent damage reduction might not last forever, it’s unlikely the Disinjector will return to its previous power level. And that’s just one change – dedicated players will also see adjustments to sniper rifles, thermal scopes, bubble shields, and even melee attacks in an upcoming update. Bungie is releasing these changes on April 14th, so keep an eye out for the full patch details.
