S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl Patch is Live, Adds “High-Risk, High-Reward” Quest in X-18 Lab

The new Sealed Truth update for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl sends you back to the X-18 Lab to uncover the Cost of Hope. A new quest from Slag Heap’s Diod tasks you with venturing into the lab’s lower levels to retrieve a lost item.

The original game didn’t fully explore the creepy laboratory like Shadow of Chornobyl did, so it’s been untouched until now. Your mission is to enter and investigate, searching for lost information and helpful equipment. It seems there’s something much more important waiting inside, though details are still unclear.

I was really happy to hear from GSC Game World that this update is their way of saying thanks to us, the fans, for sticking with the game and the world they’ve created! It makes me wonder if they’re finally going to add something we’ve all been asking for, or maybe even bring back something cool from the older games. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see, but I’m definitely excited to jump back in and check it out!

Okay, so the latest update doesn’t seem huge, but it does address a couple of things that were really bugging me. Apparently, they’ve toned down how many super-tough mutants show up during really long campaigns, which is awesome. Also, I was so frustrated when the “Dark as a Dungeon” mission would just cancel on me when I was deep into the story – thankfully, that’s fixed now! And hey, new loading screens are always a nice touch, right?

The game Cost of Hope will be released this summer on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Although the price hasn’t been revealed yet, the game will feature two new areas to explore, a lengthy story campaign lasting dozens of hours, and plenty of new quests.
