99 Nights in the Forest sets movie adaptation – will explore Roblox game “on a broader stage”

20th Century Studios has announced a movie adaptation of the popular game 99 Nights in the Forest.

The studio revealed on Monday, April 13th, that it has acquired the rights to a game created by Grandma’s Favourite Games and available on Roblox.

Currently, there’s no writer or director for the project. However, the founders of Grandmas Favourite Games – Alec Kieft, Matthew Hufton, and Cameron Angland – will be executive producers.

Okay, so I’ve been playing this game called 99 Nights in the Forest, and it’s seriously intense! Basically, you’re dropped into this creepy, haunted forest and have to survive for 99 nights. It’s not just about avoiding the dangers, though – you’re also trying to rescue four kids who’ve gone missing. Lots of monsters to fight off while you’re at it, so it’s a real action-survival challenge!

Released in March 2025, this game is incredibly popular on Roblox, ranking as the seventh most-played game ever with almost 26 billion visits and a player approval rating of 90.6%.

David Greenbaum, President of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, praised Grandma’s Favourite Games as a creative and innovative team. He noted their ideas have a natural cinematic quality, making them a pleasure to collaborate with.

He added that ’99 Nights in the Forest’ has already been enjoyed by millions of players globally, and they’re looking forward to expanding on that success to reach even more people.

The team at Grandma’s said they grew up loving Disney and 20th Century films, making this collaboration feel like a dream come true. They’re thrilled to bring their game, 99 Nights in the Forest, to a wider audience and explore new ways to create frightening experiences.

Along with movies planned for popular Roblox games like Steal a Brainrot and Grow a Garden, Story Kitchen is also developing a big-screen adaptation of 99 Nights in the Forest.
