As the Eurovision Song Contest approaches in just one month, excitement is growing for the UK’s contestant, Look Mum No Computer.
Sam Ryder, who finished second in the 2022 competition, shared some encouraging words. He told TopMob at the Olivier Awards that everyone’s experience is unique and valuable, and he encourages participants to embrace their own journey, just as he did.
All the performers on stage have people – friends, family, and loved ones – around the globe who are supporting them and hoping they succeed.
I hope anyone brave enough to perform on stage in front of such a huge crowd feels proud of their effort and makes a lasting, memorable experience for themselves.
Sam Battle, who goes by the name Look Mum No Computer, released his song “Eins, Zwei, Drei” last month. It’s an upbeat track with synths and electronic bass, and the lyrics are about breaking free from the monotony of a typical workday.

Battle shared their excitement about releasing their new track, saying they were thrilled for the world to finally hear it. ‘Eins, Zwei, Drei’ came about during a collaborative songwriting session, and was created using their synthesizer, ‘Kosmo,’ something they’re incredibly proud of.
I really want people to feel free to dance, sing, and just have fun with the energy of the song. We’re putting a lot of effort into creating a truly over-the-top and memorable performance for Eurovision – it’s a big challenge! Can’t wait to see you all in Vienna!”
Ryder’s song, ‘Space Man,’ finished in second place at the 2022 Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, Italy, just behind Ukraine’s winning entry, ‘Stefania.’ Because Ukraine couldn’t host the following year’s competition, the 2023 contest was held in the UK instead.
Since then, he’s put out two albums and landed the starring role in the West End’s new production of Jesus Christ Superstar, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber.
The singer recently grabbed attention for his performance of “Gethsemane” at The National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals, which received a fantastic reaction from the audience. Interestingly, Ryder wasn’t there to see it himself.

I was completely surprised by the response! I’ve been without my phone for about six weeks, intentionally trying to disconnect. I’ve only heard from friends and family that things went well, so I’m just hoping they’re telling me the truth – they could easily be exaggerating.
I can only describe what it felt like while I was singing, and it was the most enjoyable performance I’ve had in six years. As a singer, I’m always striving to be fully immersed in the moment, and during ‘Gethsemane,’ I truly felt that connection. That’s what I’m aiming for – the experience itself. How the audience reacts doesn’t really matter to me.
The Eurovision Song Contest 2026 final will take place on Saturday 16 May 2026.
