Marvel Comics is famous for its superhero teams like the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four. These groups are central to the Marvel Universe and have starred in many memorable stories. Even teams like X-Force and the Guardians of the Galaxy have become incredibly popular. But there are also many lesser-known crimefighting teams that deserve more recognition. Despite having interesting characters, compelling stories, and repeatedly saving the world, they’ve unfortunately been overlooked. This is a look at some of Marvel’s most underrated teams who shouldn’t be forgotten.
Whether they’re young adventurers or cosmic-level powerhouses, here are some Marvel superhero teams that deserve more recognition.
5) New Warriors

The New Warriors are a team of young, aspiring heroes. The original lineup included lesser-known characters like Night Thrasher, Speedball, Justice, Namorita, Firestar, and Nova. Beyond fighting villains, they also fought for social justice. However, a tragic accident involving children damaged the team’s reputation and ultimately led to the Superhuman Registration Act. While different versions of the New Warriors have formed and disbanded over the years, this latest group now has an opportunity to restore the team’s image and prove themselves to the wider superhero world.
4) Starjammers

The Guardians of the Galaxy aren’t the first team of unlikely heroes to fight for good in space. Before them, the Starjammers were a group of space pirates who fought against unfair rulers throughout the universe. Led by Corsair, who also happens to be the father of the X-Man Cyclops, the crew includes alien rebels like Raze Longknife, Ch’od, and Hepzibah. For years, the Starjammers often teamed up with the X-Men on adventures in space, helping to fight alien dangers. Though they haven’t been featured as much lately, the Starjammers still have a lot of story possibilities as space-faring pirates.
3) Agents of Atlas

The Atlas Foundation began as a clandestine group aiming to control the world. But when Jimmy Woo, a former FBI and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, became its leader, he changed its purpose. He used the Foundation’s resources to create a team of superheroes called the Agents of Atlas. The original team, led by Jimmy, included lesser-known heroes like Namora, Human Robot, Venus, Gorilla-Man, and Uranian. Since the 1950s, they’ve secretly protected the world from spies and supernatural dangers. Later, Jimmy formed a second Agents of Atlas team – with members like Shang-Chi, Silk, Brawn, and White Fox – to be the main protectors of Asia and the surrounding Pacific region.
2) Power Pack

The Power Pack are a team of four young siblings—pre-teens with superpowers—who fight villains and aliens while sticking together as a family. They got their powers from a strange alien creature! The team includes Zero G, Lightspeed, Mass Master, and Energizer. Created to attract younger readers, the Power Pack has teamed up with popular heroes like Wolverine, Spider-Man, and the Fantastic Four in many fun adventures. Sadly, they’ve largely been overlooked, and it’s time for this unique and charming family of superheroes to make a comeback.
1) Squadron Supreme

The Squadron Supreme started as Marvel’s take on a team like the Justice League, but they’ve become well-known heroes in their own right. While different versions of the team exist throughout the Marvel universe, the core group usually includes Hyperion, Nighthawk, Power Princess, Whizzer, and Doctor Spectrum. Unlike traditional superheroes, the Squadron Supreme often operates as anti-heroes, willing to bend the rules to protect people, which sometimes puts them at odds with other Marvel heroes. Despite their shifting roles and allegiances, the Squadron Supreme remains a brave and complicated team, featured in some of Marvel’s most thoughtful and overlooked stories.
