Netflix is currently producing the third season of its live-action One Piece series, and a showrunner has hinted at a major new character who will appear in the upcoming season. Officially titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, the season will cover the Alabasta storyline from Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. This new location will introduce many characters, including some long-time favorites among fans.
As Luffy and the Straw Hat crew journey towards Princess Vivi’s home country – a storyline hinted at in the season two finale – several new members of the Baroque Works organization will be introduced. Among these is Cole Escola, who will be playing Bon Clay. Joe Tracz, the showrunner for the live-action series, shared with The Hollywood Reporter that Bon Clay is a particularly well-suited role for Escola.
Netflix’s One Piece Showrunner Teases Bon Clay Live-Action Debut
I’m such a big fan of Cole! We actually collaborated on a theater project way back in 2011. They did a reading of one of my scripts, and I’ve been hoping we’d get to work together again ever since. Just like with Katey and David, I was really thinking about how to get Cole involved, and Bon Clay felt like the absolute perfect role for them. Everyone already knows the season three cast, of course, but I’m honestly so excited for people to finally see Cole’s take on Bon Clay – I think it’s going to be amazing!
Bon Clay is a key character in the Alabasta storyline, and the actor playing him, Escola, was the first new cast member added for the third season. This highlights Bon Clay’s importance to the series, and he remains a fan favorite. If the live-action adaptation stays true to the original manga and anime, Bon Clay is expected to be very popular with viewers.
When Does One Piece Season 3 Come Out on Netflix?

Netflix is creating a live-action adaptation of the Alabasta arc from One Piece, currently titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, with a planned release sometime next year. While a specific date hasn’t been announced yet, the cast includes Cole Escola as Bon Clay, Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace, Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1, and Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger. More cast members are expected to be announced soon.
While the creators are hoping for the show to continue, Netflix hasn’t announced whether there will be a fourth season yet. However, the quick release of this third season after the second suggests that more seasons are a possibility.
