Kelly Hopton-Jones is in deep reflection after what could’ve been a horrific tragedy.
Oh my gosh, I’m absolutely devastated to hear this! My favorite influencer, the one from Hillside Farmhouse, shared the most heartbreaking news. Apparently, her sweet little Henry, who’s just 23 months old, is in the hospital with broken bones in his pelvis! She said it was a terrible accident – she accidentally ran him over with her car. I’m just sending all my love and prayers to her and Henry right now; it’s just awful!
Kelly shared on Instagram on April 15th that today was the worst day of her life. She explained that things can change very quickly, in an instant. She is also a mother to 3-year-old Lily and is married to Brian Hopton-Jones.
Kelly, a nurse practitioner specializing in children’s care and a longtime parenting blogger, recently shared a frightening experience: her young son briefly wandered into the path of their car as she was driving away with her daughter to take her to a dance recital.
I was driving when our neighbors quickly stepped in to care for Lily while we hurried to the emergency room, as Kelly explained.
She described the situation as a parent’s worst nightmare, but thankfully, her son’s injuries weren’t as serious as she initially feared. He didn’t suffer any major internal injuries or head trauma.
He suffered fractures to his pelvis and some scrapes, which will take time to heal, Kelly explained. The doctor’s words – that he’s injured but expected to fully recover – really stuck with her. She called it a true miracle.
The influencer expressed both relief that her son’s injuries aren’t expected to last and deep sadness, saying they are still in shock over what happened.
Kelly shared that the incident had deeply affected both her and her husband, and she began to think about all the things that could have been done differently to prevent her son’s accident.

She explained that she kept thinking about how she’d advise her own children if they were in a similar situation. She realized she’d be much more understanding and forgiving than she was being with herself at that moment. She emphasized that mistakes are inevitable, and the important thing is to learn from them.
Despite everything, Kelly feels fortunate considering how things could have turned out. She shared a photo of her son recovering in the hospital and wrote, “We’re holding him extra close tonight.”
