Fans Spot Editing Error in Ariana Grande’s Focker-In-Law Trailer

A slip-up made it out of the circle of trust.

A mistake in the trailer for the new movie Focker-in-Law seems to show Ariana Grande’s stunt double appearing on screen instead of the actress herself.

The first trailer for Focker-in-Law shows a familiar situation unfolding: Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is now the overprotective parent, mirroring his father-in-law Jack (Robert De Niro)’s behavior when he first met Greg. His son, Henry (Skyler Gisondo), has announced he wants to marry his girlfriend, Olivia (Ariana Grande). Interestingly, the trailer, released on April 15th, also included a noticeable error that wasn’t edited out.

The video shows Greg and Olivia biking, and Olivia appears to fall off her bike. However, a closer look suggests the person who fell isn’t actually Ariana Grande.

One observant YouTube viewer pointed out that the stunt double is clearly visible during the bike fall scene, saying, “I can’t believe you can see it!”

Another viewer noted on X, “the obvious stunt double is cracking me up lowkey.”

Despite the recent issues, many people expressed their eagerness for more of the humorous chaos the Focker family brings.

One fan pointed out on X that it was noticeable when the actor’s stunt double appeared in the movie’s trailer. Despite this, the fan said they’re still excited to see the film, as they enjoy the ‘Meet the Parents’ franchise.

Despite one small error in the trailer, fans of the Meet the Parents movies will be glad to see Jack’s famous lie detector test make a comeback. In the original film, Greg was subjected to it, and this time, Olivia – a former FBI hostage negotiator – is hooked up to the polygraph to reveal her feelings for Henry.

Unlike Greg, Olivia has a better time of it, impressing retired CIA operative Jack.

Walking in on the test, Greg said to Olivia, ‘It’s strange being an observer, after always being the one being tested.’

The new movie Focker-in-Law, coming to theaters November 25th, had a small mistake in its trailer, but it’s not alone! Many films and shows have had editing errors that fans have spotted. Here’s a look at some of those mistakes.

In one part of the show, Lucas Scott, played by Chad Michael Murray, is driving with his father, Dan Scott, played by Paul Johansson, when Michael Copon’s character, Felix Taggaro, dares Lucas to a race.

Okay, let me tell you, as someone who pays attention to detail, I’ve spotted something in this scene! There’s this really quick moment in the car with the Scotts where the actors are subtly swapped out for stunt doubles. Once you notice it, trust me, you can’t unsee it! It’s one of those little filmmaking things that becomes super noticeable after the first time.

Towards the end of the film, after single mom Tess and her teenage daughter Anna magically swap bodies, a parallel situation unfolds with Anna’s younger brother Harry and their grandfather. They have a disagreement, and a similar fate seems to befall them.

However, before either of them can fall, they’re both brought down. Interestingly, the actor playing Harry in this particular scene isn’t the same young actor we’ve seen throughout the film. This scene actually features an adult stunt double taking his place.

Viewers noticed several unidentified people in the background during a scene featuring Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) crossing a snowy bridge on the February 19th episode of the HBO series.

One viewer called the episode “brilliant” but pointed out a small issue: the film crew is visible in one shot and suggested it be edited and re-uploaded.

In season 9, episode 15 of “The One With The Mugging,” a quick shot shows Joey (played by Matt LeBlanc) with someone who’s supposed to be Rachel (Jennifer Aniston) in the background. However, it’s actually her stand-in, and only half of her face is visible behind Joey.

During the ninth season’s fourth episode, “The One With The Sharks,” a quick camera trick is visible. Around 12 and a half minutes in, viewers can spot a brief scene with an actress who looks like Rachel, sporting curly hair and a yellow shirt, sitting at the kitchen table. When the camera focuses on the table again, she’s been replaced by a different actress – a stand-in with straight hair and a blue shirt.

In the third season of the popular Netflix show, Drew Starkey’s character, Rafe, and Madison Bailey’s Kie are shown fleeing Vaux Hall. However, the scene unexpectedly switches to two male actors portraying them – one of whom looks significantly older than the original actor.

The show included scenes of Jonathan Daviss’s character, Pope, and Carlacia Grant’s Cleo on a motorcycle, but viewers noticed the stunt double for Pope had a different hairstyle than Daviss. A similar situation occurred when Kie and Rudy Pankow’s character, JJ, were riding bikes—JJ’s hair color didn’t match in one shot.

In the 2000 movie based on the Dr. Seuss book How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the Grinch’s eye color noticeably changes. For most of the film, his eyes are a yellowish green, but they briefly turn brown – the natural color of Jim Carrey’s eyes – before returning to green.

A TikTok user pointed out a funny mistake in How the Grinch Stole Christmas. They noticed that Jim Carrey’s natural brown eyes are visible at one point, likely because the special effects team either forgot to put his green contacts in, or didn’t remove them in post-production.

In the fifth episode of season three of The Bear, viewers notice Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) briefly wearing his wedding ring. But after a quick scene change, the ring is gone.

One viewer noticed a mistake in the show’s continuity on X (formerly Twitter). They pointed out that a character was wearing a wedding ring in one scene, but it disappeared after a cut to a different shot and back.

TikTok users spotted a funny mistake in an old episode of Gossip Girl (which originally aired from 2007 to 2012). In the scene, the character Serena van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively, looks perfectly dressed… but only from the waist up!

But then the camera pulls back, and it’s clear she’s actually wearing sweatpants with a drawstring over her dress, and they sit low on her legs, just below the knees.

One TikTok user praised Gossip Girl for its authenticity, pointing out that the actors were often seen wearing comfortable clothes like sweatpants and Ugg boots even when not on camera.

Soon after the Sarah Jessica Parker sitcom became available on Netflix in 2024, a TikTok user noticed a mistake in the third episode.

Samantha (Kim Cattrall) initially wears a green, low-cut halter dress while getting ready to go to a party with Carrie (SJP) and Charlotte (Kristin Davis). However, when they open the door to the party, she’s suddenly wearing a blue dress instead.

People who loved the 2008 vampire film with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner are still amused by its mistakes and imperfections.

If you look closely, you can spot the film crew reflected in the window of Edward’s car during a driving scene. There’s also a small mistake where his character unnecessarily closes the car trunk twice within the same scene.

There are also occasions in which the leading lady was subject to a few inaccuracies herself.

While Bella was recovering in the hospital after her fight with James and Edward, a few small details in the scene don’t quite add up. Her oxygen tube kept slipping around on her face, even briefly covering her eye, and a lamp on the nearby table seemed to change positions multiple times.

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following all the buzz around the season 48 finale of this reality competition! Before the big showdown between Joe Hunter, Eva Erickson, Kyle Fraser, Kamilla Karthigesu, and Mitch Guerra, a lot of viewers thought CBS might have accidentally spoiled the ending with a little preview. It got everyone talking, wondering if the network had given away who would win!

In one clip, Mitch seemed to be walking among a few members of the ousted jury members.

One TikTok user noticed that a close-up clearly showed the character Mitch, and many viewers had predicted this reveal. They were surprised, however, that the show gave away such a big spoiler in a promotional clip.

Viewers also noticed a potential spoiler involving Kamilla: she was wearing an immunity necklace, suggesting she’s one of the final three players competing for the million-dollar prize.

One user posted on X on May 19th that the show was unfolding as they expected, but expressed some frustration. They were, however, relieved to not yet know which challenge Kamilla won immunity in.

Viewers started to raise concerns about how the show was edited during its seventh season on Peacock.

A TikTok user noticed something interesting in a clip from the show: Islander Clarke Carraway was first seen wearing a black bikini while relaxing at the villa. Shortly after, the cameras showed her in a brown swimsuit, leading viewers to believe the two scenes were filmed at different times.

Viewers also spotted a continuity error during a conversation between TJ Palma and Vanna Einerson: Vanna’s orange drinking glass briefly changed to teal.

“I just wanna know,” a user commented on TikTok, “what’s happening in between.”

Call it a commemoration?

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when Adam McKay’s 2021 film exploded onto Netflix – it hit number one globally in just days! But it quickly sparked some conversation for a surprising reason. Viewers noticed a quick shot of the film crew wearing masks, and many thought it was a mistake. Turns out, Adam intentionally left it in! He wanted to capture what it was really like filming a movie during the pandemic, and I think that’s a really cool touch – a little piece of history right there on your screen.

Adam explained in a December tweet that the brief appearance of a crew member in the film was intentional, a way to remember the unusual experience of making it. He included the hashtag #Don’tLookUp with the tweet.

Even though it had its issues, the movie still received an Oscar nomination for Best Editing, which is a great outcome. We’ll definitely be careful not to get dizzy while watching it, though!

After over twenty years since the first Harry Potter movie came out, the special Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts finally arrived on HBO Max in January 2022. Given how long fans had waited, it’s no surprise they didn’t want to miss a moment.

Almost immediately, a viewer spotted a mistake at the start of the special: a photo intended to be Emma Watson (known for playing Hermione Granger) was actually a picture of Emma Roberts.

Following the mistake circulating on social media, the reunion special’s producers confirmed the error to TopMob News. They acknowledged that fans had noticed a mislabeled photo during editing and stated a corrected version was already available.

Another mistake in the Harry Potter reunion special was discovered after it aired, but it’s easy to see how it happened—the error involved identical twins!

Oliver Phelps, known for playing George Weasley in the Harry Potter films, has stated that the recent HBO Max special incorrectly labeled him as his twin brother, James Phelps.

He jokingly suggested on Instagram that someone finally retaliated for all his past pranks, sharing a screenshot of the error. Despite the mishap, he was happy to have been at the Harry Potter reunion and hoped everyone else enjoyed it too.

Tom Felton, known for playing Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter movies, jokingly took responsibility for the mistake, commenting, “It was my doing. #weaslebee #returntohogwarts.”

Viewers were shocked during the fourth season of HBO’s Game of Thrones when a modern Starbucks cup appeared among the medieval silverware in one scene.

After a coffee cup unexpectedly appeared in an episode of Game of Thrones in 2019, HBO addressed the issue. They admitted the cup was a mistake, and playfully suggested that Emilia Clarke’s character, Daenerys Targaryen, had actually ordered an herbal tea.

Alas, if you’re looking for it now, the cup has been edited out from the episode.

Okay, so Braveheart is, like, my favorite movie ever, right? Mel Gibson is just perfect as William Wallace, and the story of the Scottish fight for freedom? Amazing! But I’ve watched it SO many times, and I recently noticed something that totally blew my mind. It’s set in the 1200s, way before cars even existed, but there’s a clear shot of a white car just… sitting in the background of one of the battle scenes! I was so shocked! How did that even get there? It’s a total anachronism, and honestly, it just makes me love the movie even more because it’s so bizarre!

Even though the scene is very short, lasting under two seconds, it clearly showed us when the movie was actually being filmed.

The movie Gladiator, released in the early 2000s and set in 180 AD, was a huge success. It’s no surprise that the actors were mostly seen wearing either battle armor or clothing appropriate for that historical period.

Fans spotted something strange in a scene set in the Colosseum: a man wearing a simple white T-shirt and jeans—clothing that definitely wouldn’t have existed in ancient Rome.

The 2019 movie musical, which was originally a stage play from 1981, generated a lot of buzz thanks to its all-star cast, including Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Judi Dench, and James Corden. People were eager to see – and hear – it!

Despite the hype, critics weren’t impressed with the movie, citing issues with the visual effects and editing. A particularly noticeable mistake occurred when viewers spotted a very realistic human hand briefly visible on Judi’s CGI cat body. Director Tom Hooper quickly addressed this and other problems by updating the film shortly after its initial release, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

In the 2002 film The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Karl Urban plays the character Éomer. However, some viewers spotted a mistake near the end: during a scene where Éomer is supposed to be riding with other characters, it’s actually his stunt double’s face briefly shown instead of Karl Urban’s.

In a director’s commentary, as reported by WhatCulture, Peter Jackson revealed they simply ran out of time to digitally replace the actor’s face before the film was released.

Eagle-eyed viewers have spotted a funny mistake in season three, episode three of Emily in Paris. Right after Madeline (Kate Walsh) tells Emily (Lily Collins) she needs to go back to Chicago, Emily looks out the window – and there are two Eiffel Towers visible! The famous landmark appears briefly on the left side of the shot, then again right outside the window. Talk about a noticeable error!

On season five of the Netflix show, Christine Quinn made a striking entrance to Chelsea Lazkani’s party in a bright pink dress and a pale blue headpiece. Almost immediately, she swapped it for a large, matching pink hat, definitely grabbing everyone’s attention!

One viewer jokingly pointed out on X that Christine’s hat seemed to change during a scene, while another criticized the show’s editing, saying the continuity editor was doing a poor job.
