Looking for a baseball video game in 2026? You have two great options. MLB The Show 26 is the long-running, popular choice based on Major League Baseball. Alternatively, eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 offers a realistic simulation of Japanese professional baseball, now available in English for players worldwide.
Choosing between the two games comes down to the baseball experience you’re looking for. If you prefer following Major League Baseball teams, want to play on various devices, and like a well-established online system, MLB The Show 26 is the more reliable option. However, if you’re looking for a cheaper game, a version designed for PC, and a focus on Japanese professional baseball, eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 provides a unique alternative.

Platforms

MLB The Show 26 is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, and it will also work on the new Nintendo Switch 2 console. While there isn’t a version you can download directly to PC, players with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can stream and play the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming after purchasing it.
eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 is now available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam. Currently, there are no plans to release it on Xbox or Nintendo Switch, meaning players on those consoles won’t be able to play the game when it first comes out.
If you have a PlayStation 5, you can play either game. For PC players, eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 is the only option built specifically for that platform. If you’re on Xbox or Nintendo Switch, MLB The Show 26 is the way to go.

Price

Okay, so MLB The Show 26 is gonna run you $70 for the regular version, but the Digital Deluxe is $100. Honestly, the Deluxe Edition is tempting because you get to play four days early, plus a bunch of in-game goodies like 20,000 Stubs and a ton of packs to build up your team. They’re throwing in some special packs for the World Baseball Classic too, and even a Legend Choice Pack. Plus, you get double the daily rewards just for logging in! Good news if you’ve been buying the digital versions for a few years now – they’re giving us a 10% discount on the Deluxe Edition as a thank you, which is pretty cool.
Okay, so I just found out eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 will cost $59.99 no matter where you are in the world, which is awesome! It looks like there aren’t any special editions outside of Japan, just the standard game. If you pre-order, you’ll get 1,000,000 VP, and if you buy it before the end of 2026, you’ll also get a Shohei Ohtani player card for the SAMURAI JAPAN 2026 team – that’s a pretty cool bonus!
eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 costs $10 less than the previous version, and you don’t have to pay extra to get early access.
The Biggest Difference: MLB vs Japanese Professional Baseball

This is the point that matters most.
MLB The Show 26 is the ultimate baseball experience, featuring everything from the official Major League Baseball league – all 30 teams, accurate rosters, authentic stadiums, and real player names. Aaron Judge is featured on the cover, and the game includes content from the World Baseball Classic within its Diamond Dynasty mode. If you’re a fan of American professional baseball, this game is made for you.
eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 focuses on Japanese professional baseball, featuring officially licensed teams, stadiums, and player data. This sets it apart from games like MLB The Show 26 and makes it a great choice for fans of Japanese baseball or those looking for a baseball simulation experience beyond the MLB world.
As a big baseball fan, I was really excited about the World Baseball Classic mode in eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026, but unfortunately, it looks like it’s only available for players in Japan and Asia right now. If you’re outside those regions, you won’t be able to play it at launch, which is a bit of a bummer.
Game Modes

MLB The Show 26 is built around four main modes.
Road to the Show, the game’s career mode, has been significantly improved this year. It now features an expanded amateur experience with 19 different college teams, the official NCAA Men’s College World Series format, and a new Road to Cooperstown feature that lets you guide your player’s career from high school through to the Hall of Fame.
Franchise Mode has a reworked front office system with a new Trade Hub and better roster logic.
Diamond Dynasty is still the main way to build a team in the game, with new content, online matches, and special events added regularly.
Storylines: The Negro Leagues returns for its fourth season.
eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 features a wide variety of game modes, letting you play Exhibition games, build a Season, develop Star Players, experience the drama of Hakkyu no Kiseki, compete in Live Championships and Scenarios, battle through Grand Prix tournaments, participate in Home Run Derbies, customize teams with Team Edit, and share your creations with Edit Share.
One of the most impressive features of eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 is its high school baseball management mode, called Hakkyu no Kiseki. You’re in charge of building a baseball program over multiple seasons, handling everything from practice schedules and in-game strategy to player development and recruiting new students each year. Ultimately, you’re aiming to lead your school to the Koshien tournament, Japan’s premier high school baseball competition. This mode offers a unique experience compared to the professional baseball focus of games like MLB The Show 26.
The Star Player mode lets you create a player and develop their career over up to 30 years, with choices that affect what happens both on and off the field.
MLB The Show 26 really shines with its ongoing live content. Its Diamond Dynasty mode is well-established and receives regular updates throughout the baseball season. While eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 is also expected to offer good support, it’s unclear how consistently it will be updated over time.
Game Pass and Subscription Access
Neither game is included with Game Pass in 2026.
From 2021 to 2024, MLB The Show was available on Game Pass from day one of its release. However, that’s no longer the case, starting with MLB The Show 25, and MLB The Show 26 will also not be a day-one Game Pass title.
Unlike some other games, eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 won’t be available through Game Pass, meaning you’ll need to buy it outright. The same goes for the other game as well – a full purchase is required for both.
Who Should Buy MLB The Show 26?

Buy MLB The Show 26 if:
- You mainly follow MLB
- You want real MLB teams, players, and stadiums
- You play on Xbox or Nintendo Switch
- You care about Diamond Dynasty and seasonal content
- You want a polished career mode built around the American baseball system
This is the better choice for players who want the most familiar and complete MLB experience.
Who Should Buy eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026?
Buy eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 if:
- You play on PC and want a native baseball game
- You follow Japanese professional baseball
- You want to try Hakkyu no Kiseki
- You prefer the lower $59.99 price
- You have been waiting for this series to get a proper English release
This game offers a fresh experience for players looking for something beyond typical baseball games.
Should You Buy Both?
Yes, and there is a fair case for it.
These two games offer distinct experiences. One focuses on Major League Baseball, while the other centers on Japan’s professional baseball league. If you’re a PS5 player and enjoy both types of baseball, getting both games lets you experience them separately, rather than having one replace the other.
If you’re looking for official MLB licensing, the ability to play on more systems, and a game that’s consistently updated with new content, MLB The Show 26 is the way to go.
If you’re looking for a baseball game specifically for PC, at a more affordable price, and focused on Japanese professional baseball, eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026 is a great choice.
If you’re a PS5 gamer who enjoys both MLB and eBaseball PRO SPIRIT 2026, it’s worth having both games. But if you can only choose one, the main thing to consider is whether you’d prefer a baseball game featuring MLB teams or one focused on Japanese baseball.
