We’ve all seen it: actors in historical or fantasy dramas walking through beautiful gardens while having intense conversations, or leading armies into battle before impressive castles. If you enjoy watching TV and movies, you’ve probably found yourself wondering where those scenes were actually filmed.
You’ll often find it right outside your door, as the UK has many gardens and outdoor areas commonly used for filming.
Many popular shows like Bridgerton, Wolf Hall, Peaky Blinders, and Game of Thrones, as well as big movie series, have filmed scenes in places like your neighborhood gardens or at National Trust properties.
To help you get the most out of your next garden trip, we’ve gathered a list of beautiful outdoor locations featured in TV shows and movies. Plus, we suggest using the BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine 2-for-1 gardens scheme to save money on admission.
For over 30 years, BBC Gardeners’ World Magazine has offered a popular 2-for-1 gardens scheme. Each May, readers receive a card and guide with the magazine that provides discounted entry to over 380 gardens throughout the UK and Ireland, saving them up to £38.50 per visit. Over 325,000 readers benefit from this offer.
This year, the 2-for-1 Gardens scheme has a new app to help you easily find gardens to visit. You can search by garden name, county, or region, and the app includes an improved map to help you plan your trip. It gives you all the garden information you need, right at your fingertips.
