A key leader at Xbox recently hinted at what viewers can expect from the upcoming gameplay reveal for Gears of War: E-Day. Xbox announced in March that its annual gaming showcase will be held on June 7th. While the showcase will feature many games for Xbox, it will be followed by a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day Direct – the first in-depth look at the new Gears game. Now, we have a slightly clearer idea of what will be shown before the broadcast begins.
In a recent interview on the Official Xbox Podcast, Matt Booty, Xbox’s new Chief Content Officer, gave details about the upcoming Gears of War: E-Day Direct. He said the presentation will be 30 minutes long and feature a substantial look at what players can expect from the game. This will be the first time anyone has seen actual gameplay footage of Gears of War: E-Day, as so far all that’s been released is the initial trailer from 2024.
Okay, so this Direct was pretty long, and honestly, I’m expecting The Coalition to show off almost everything that’ll be in Gears of War: E-Day. I think a lot of us long-time fans are really excited about the campaign, but knowing Gears, multiplayer is going to be huge too. And it feels almost certain that Horde mode will be back, which is awesome! If they really do include all three – campaign, multiplayer, and Horde – I’m betting we’ll get a pretty detailed look at each of them during the Direct.
As of today, Gears of War: E-Day doesn’t have a firm release date, but it’s currently planned to launch sometime in 2026. When it does come out, it will be available on Xbox Series X/S and PC. While a PlayStation 5 version isn’t confirmed, it might be released at a later date.
