Rainy Frog and Rainy Night Creations have announced that their “modern retro stealth action” game, Spy Drops, will be available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series starting April 28th.
Spy Drops first launched for Switch and PC via Steam on July 31, 2025.
Here is an overview of the game, via Rainy Frog:
Enjoy a fresh take on classic 3D stealth games! This title blends retro gameplay with updated graphics, randomly created missions, current-day gear, and the option to play with friends locally.
I’m part of this elite team called Spy Drops, and we’re supposed to be stopping a huge cyberattack – something that could basically shut down the internet worldwide. But things aren’t what they seem, and I’m starting to realize we’re caught up in something way bigger and more complicated than just stopping a simple threat.
You’ve been parachuted into enemy territory with a secret mission: sneak into important buildings and carry out clandestine operations. While there, use the Dream Catcher device to gather intelligence from soldiers’ minds – it will reveal where to find your next targets.
Each mission is created randomly, making every playthrough exciting and unpredictable – you’ll never be sure what challenges await. This means no two games will be exactly alike.
You’ll carefully make your way through enemy bases, deciding the best approach for each room. Watch out for enemies who can spot your shadow or hear you coming! You have lots of options: dodge detection, disable cameras by hacking or shooting them, sneak or knock out guards, use a drone to scout ahead, hide in lockers, or even wear special boots to muffle your footsteps.
You have complete freedom to select the gear you bring on every mission, with options like drones, hacking tools, explosives, and night vision goggles. The time of day and weather can either help or hinder you, so choosing the right equipment is key. As you play, you’ll unlock new gear and weapons through research.
Take on a friend in local head-to-head multiplayer with Spy against Spy!
Take on optional side missions to really test your abilities. Your best times will be recorded and shared on global leaderboards, letting you compete with players worldwide for the highest rank.
