Please be aware that the following information contains spoilers for episode 15 of The Pitt season 2, which hasn’t yet aired in the UK.
People in the UK can continue watching new episodes of The Pitt each week, but viewers in the US have finished season 2 and will have to wait for future episodes.
Okay, so I’m really relieved to hear the show’s going to keep up its regular release pattern. John Wells, who’s directing and producing, has hinted that Season 3 is looking at a January 2027 premiere – which is awesome because the first two seasons also dropped in January, one right after the other. Fingers crossed it happens!
According to Wells, the writers’ room started meeting last week and is now finishing up its second week of work. Production is scheduled to resume in June, with the show aiming to return to television the same week in January with a 15-episode season.
In a recent interview on April 7th, R Scott Gemmill, the creator, writer, and executive producer, shared that they’ve generally planned out the rest of the season, though many details are still being worked out.

The season 2 finale featured a heartfelt goodbye as Dr. Mohan, played by Supriya Ganesh and a key character since the show began, left the series. The last scene showed her on the hospital roof, enjoying fireworks with her coworkers.
Despite some fans wanting Ganesh to reappear, showrunner Gemmill confirmed to Deadline that the rooftop scene marks the last time viewers will see the character.
Because a teaching hospital constantly has staff changes, we want to portray that realistically in the show. We’ve already seen characters leave, and more will leave as the story goes on.

The show can be a little bittersweet – you become invested in characters, and then they leave. But that’s similar to real life, particularly in a workplace where people are constantly joining and leaving. It’s just part of the show’s format.
Gemmill confirmed that viewers should expect characters to continue leaving the show in future seasons.
You can now stream the first season of The Pitt on HBO Max in the UK. In the US, both seasons are available to watch whenever you like, but in the UK, new episodes of season 2 are released every Thursday.
