
The Pokémon Trading Card Game is always growing with new releases, and this summer, players can look forward to the ‘Mega Evolution – Pitch Black’ set.
According to PokéBeach, the next Pokémon TCG set, called Pitch Black, will feature the 5th wave of Mega Evolution cards. It’s the English version of the Japanese set, Abyss Eye, which is about to be released.
There are some exciting new cards to collect in this new set, not least Mega Darkrai ex.
While The Pokémon Company hasn’t announced the official release date or specifics of the Pitch Black expansion just yet (as they prepare for Chaos Rising), we already have a good understanding of what’s coming.

When is the Pokémon TCG Pitch Black release date?
The Pokémon TCG Pitch Black release date is 17 July 2026, according to PokéBeach.
I’m so excited! PokéBeach is reporting that we’ll be able to play with pre-release sets of the new expansion really soon – from July 4th to July 12th, 2026, to be exact!

Is there a Pitch Black pre-order yet?
Pokémon TCG Pitch Black pre-orders are not yet live.
Once pre-orders begin, retailers like Magic Madhouse will likely have the new sets available to buy.
You can pre-order Pitch Black at various retailers including the Pokémon Center, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon, and Target. It’s also available from trading card game stores like TCGPlayer.
What do we know about the Pitch Black card list?
Although official details are still forthcoming, thanks to PokéBeach, we’ve learned that the upcoming Pitch Black expansion will feature exciting cards, including the powerful Mega Darkrai ex.
We should also be able to find Mega Charizard X ex, Mega Zygarde ex and Mega Greninja ex cards too!
