Natalie Portman‘s new chapter does have some strings attached.
Just over a year after starting a relationship with French musician Tanguy Destable, the Academy Award-winning actress has announced she is expecting a baby.
I’m absolutely thrilled, honestly! My partner, Tanguy, and I are just feeling incredibly grateful right now. It really hits you how special and almost unbelievable it is to be in this position – it’s a true privilege.
The 44-year-old, who has two children – 14-year-old Aleph and 9-year-old Amalia – with her ex-husband, Benjamin Millepied, shared that she’s feeling surprisingly energetic and enjoying spending quality time with her kids, which she says is the most rewarding thing.
Although Paris is always lovely in the spring, Portman joked that French doctors consider a pregnancy to last 41 weeks instead of the usual 40, meaning she gets to enjoy being pregnant for an extra week this time.
She’s finished filming her next two movies and is now focusing on what truly makes her happy.
Watching my children grow and become themselves is incredibly rewarding,” she shared with Interview magazine last year. “I’ve also been enjoying spending time with my friends and our kids together – it’s a lot of fun.”

Oh my gosh, she was hanging out with Tepr! I’ve been following him for years – his real name is Destable, and he’s such an amazing electronic music artist from Morlaix. And get this – he’s a dad! He has two adorable sons, Étienne and Vadim, with the incredible Louise Bourgoin. Seriously, could she be with a more perfect group of people? It’s just… everything!
Since finalizing her divorce in March 2024, Natalie Portman has been living between Paris and Los Angeles. She met choreographer Benjamin Millepied while filming Black Swan in 2010, and she was pregnant with her son, Aleph, when she received major awards for her role as a ballerina struggling with her mental health.
The May December actress excitedly talked about how the lines between acting and her personal life blurred while filming, but she generally keeps her private life very guarded.
In a July 2024 interview with The Guardian, she explained that maintaining believability in her roles requires a degree of personal privacy, stating, ‘the less people know about me personally the better.’
I’ve been following her for a while now, and I found her recent comments about privacy really insightful. She actually said that even though she doesn’t necessarily feel super private, she quickly learned that presenting that way publicly made a huge difference. She explained that by making it known she valued her privacy, people respected it more. It was a smart move – she basically created a boundary for herself, deciding upfront that she wasn’t going to do photoshoots featuring her children, and people seemed to understand and respect that decision.

However, there might be clues as to what’s happening in real life in the projects she picks.
Natalie Portman explained that her personal life often influences the projects she chooses. Surprisingly, she needs a calm and stable home life to tackle challenging roles. When facing difficulties at home, she looks for work that brings her joy, lightness, and humor.
The former child star, who became famous at age 11 in the 1994 film The Professional, sees acting as a chance to experience many different lives. She also believes that exploring characters’ emotions has taught her valuable lessons about relationships—how stories shape who we are, how important it is to truly listen to others, and how our choices define us.

Natalie Portman recently told Vanity Fair that she appreciates having friends and family who encourage her to simply be herself, away from the public eye.
Natalie Portman and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, had actually separated several months earlier, filing for divorce the previous summer. Despite this, she described being in Paris as wonderful, saying she felt very fortunate to live there and enjoy a vibrant life with close friends.
Paris also proved to be fertile ground for love to grow.
She told Harper’s Bazaar that she’s found peace in understanding who she is and what truly brings her joy each day. Knowing this pregnancy is likely her last, she’s making a point to savor every single moment.
She’s relieved that she and Destable won’t need to buy a bunch of baby books.
You know, as someone who’s spent years helping people navigate life, I’ve learned it’s all about embracing the journey. We will stumble – it’s inevitable, no matter how much we plan. But surprisingly, we’ll also get things right just by being ourselves. Honestly, I truly believe that simply being present and approaching life with love is the most powerful thing we can do.
