Recent reports about the new Pokémon Winds and Waves game for Nintendo Switch 2 have disappointed fans hoping for a 2026 release. While the games were announced a little over a month ago, it’s now expected they won’t be available until 2027, likely during the holiday season. Fans hoping to learn more about Pokémon Winds and Waves this year may be disappointed, as further announcements seem unlikely in the near future.
Several reliable sources familiar with upcoming Pokémon games have indicated that we won’t hear any further announcements about the next main series titles in 2026. These sources include BallGuy and another insider who accurately leaked details about the games – even the starting Pokémon – before they were officially revealed.
2026 Is Going to Be a Long Year for Pokemon Fans
It’s now confirmed that Pokémon Winds and Waves for the Nintendo Switch 2 won’t be released until sometime in 2027, but there’s no specific date yet. Given that the game was originally announced on Pokémon Day (February 27th), that seems like a likely time for a release date announcement, assuming there are no further delays. If everything stays on track, we might finally learn when the game is coming out on February 27th next year.
Keep in mind that this information isn’t official, so it’s best to view it with some skepticism. Even if it is correct, plans could still change. While it’s unlikely, Game Freak and Nintendo might adjust their marketing strategy. Of course, all of this depends on the initial information being accurate and assumes a re-reveal isn’t already planned for 2026.
As of right now, Game Freak, The Pokémon Company, and Nintendo haven’t officially responded to these recent reports. We don’t anticipate they will, but we’ll be sure to update this article if they do. In the meantime, we’d love to hear your thoughts – feel free to leave a comment or join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum.
