The latest hit series is quickly becoming the most popular show on Paramount+, and it looks like it will stay that way with another spin-off on the way.
According to FlixPatrol, both Fire Country and its new spinoff, Sheriff Country, are currently among the ten most popular series on Paramount+. Fire Country has been in the number nine spot for a total of 183 days, while Sheriff Country is slightly higher at number eight after just two weeks.
CBS’ Fire Country And Its Sheriff Country Spinoff — Explained
The series, created by Max Thieriot, Tony Phelan, and Joan Rater, is set in the town of Edgewater, California. It primarily follows the brave men and women of Cal Fire—California’s forestry and fire protection department—who work alongside inmates from the California Conservation Camp Program.
Fire Country stars Max Thieriot as Bode Donovan, an ex-inmate working as a firefighter, alongside Kevin Alejandro as battalion chief Manny Perez, Stephanie Arcila as firefighter and paramedic Gabriela Perez, and Diane Farr as Bode’s mother, Sharon. The show also includes a large supporting cast, such as Morena Baccarin as Sheriff Mickey Fox, a character whose storyline was popular enough to get its own spinoff, Sheriff Country.
Both Fire Country and Sheriff Country are currently airing new episodes. The season finales for both shows will premiere on CBS on May 22nd, but fans are most excited about what’s coming up next for the Fire Country franchise.
What’s Next for CBS’ Fire Country Franchise?
CBS is working on a new show set in the world of Fire Country. This upcoming spinoff will follow the paramedics of Edgewater, but doesn’t have an official title yet. The main actor for the new show will first appear in an episode of Sheriff Country, similar to how Morena Baccarin’s character, Sheriff Mickey Fox, was introduced on Fire Country before getting her own series.
Details about the story and cast of the upcoming series “Med Country” haven’t been released yet. However, it will be executive produced by Matt Lopez, who also leads “Sheriff Country.” Joining him are Max Thieriot, Joan Rater, and Tony Phelan – the co-creators and executive producers of both “Fire Country” and “Sheriff Country” – along with industry veteran Jerry Bruckheimer and KristieAnne Reed.
It’s not surprising that creators are considering a “Med Country” show, given the success of Fire Country and Sheriff Country. The idea follows a similar path to the One Chicago franchise – which started with Chicago Fire in 2012 and then grew to include shows about all types of emergency responders like Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med. However, the newest One Chicago show, Chicago Justice, was unfortunately canceled after just one season in 2017.
Fire Country and Sheriff Country are both currently available for streaming on Paramount+.
