The upcoming PS5 exclusive game, launching next month, will receive a significant upgrade on the PS5 Pro, potentially making it a standout title for the console. The PS5 Pro hasn’t always lived up to its potential since launch, often lacking support from game developers – including PlayStation Studios – and substantial hardware improvements. While developer support remains a challenge, the hardware side is getting better, largely thanks to the new PSSR 2 technology.
PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, or PSS2, is a technology that uses AI to instantly improve image quality on the PS5 Pro. It not only makes games look sharper, but also helps maintain smooth frame rates, even at higher resolutions. This feature was a key selling point when the PS5 Pro launched, delivering on its promise to enhance visuals in supported games—provided you have a compatible display. Recently, Sony released an upgraded version of this technology, PSS2, and it’s been a huge hit, with some users calling it a “game changer.” Currently, only a limited number of games take advantage of PSS2, but the upcoming game Saros will when it launches later this month.
One of 2026’s Most Promising PS5 Games
If you haven’t heard of Saros, it’s the newest game from Housemarque, a Finnish studio now owned by Sony. You might not know the studio’s name, but you’ve likely played their work, especially Returnal, which came out in 2021. Saros already looked great in previews, and the excellent quality of Returnal has made fans even more eager for this upcoming PS5 game, launching on April 30th. Now, players with the new PS5 Pro will have even more to look forward to.
The fact that only a third of PlayStation games released this year have been optimized for the PS5 Pro makes this news even better. And of all the games that could benefit from PS5 Pro enhancements, this one was the most deserving.
