Lots of fantastic TV shows are currently airing, but several popular ones will be ending in 2026. Following a strong year for television in 2025, 2026 promises more compelling stories. We’ve already seen a wealth of successful and critically acclaimed shows across many different genres. However, even well-loved shows eventually come to an end due to various reasons, leading to cancellations or planned final seasons.
It’s always disappointing when a good TV show ends, but most shows eventually reach a conclusion, either planned or unexpected. Several popular shows are confirmed to be finishing up in 2026, marking the end of their run. While each of these shows has been enjoyable, 2026 will be their final year.
10) All American

Since its debut in 2018, All American has become one of the most consistently praised, yet surprisingly underappreciated, sports dramas on television. The show, based on the life of former NFL player Spencer Paysinger, centers around a talented young football player from a difficult background who gets the chance to play for a high school team in wealthy Beverly Hills. Thanks to strong reviews and positive feedback, All American ran for eight seasons, and will conclude its compelling story with its final season premiering in 2026.
9) The Witcher

Lots of popular TV shows are adapted from fantasy novels, and Netflix’s The Witcher has proven successful even after its original lead actor, Henry Cavill, left the series. Based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a famous monster hunter. Liam Hemsworth has now taken on the main role. The show, known for its dark and realistic style, will conclude in 2026 with a fifth and final season expected to be released before the year ends.
8) Star Trek: Starfleet Academy

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy offered a fresh take on the beloved sci-fi series, centering on the experiences of those training to join Starfleet instead of following explorers venturing into deep space. The show’s first season debuted in January 2026, with the second season nearly finished, but it was quickly cancelled after airing. It’s unfortunate, as the series showed promise, but it appears the second season will be its only one.
7) Avatar: The Last Airbender

Netflix released a live-action version of the popular animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender in 2024. The second season is scheduled for June 2026, and filming for the third and final season is reportedly complete. Although there’s no official release date yet, many believe the final season will premiere soon after season two. If the rumors are true, fans may be saying goodbye to the show in 2026 with the release of its last season.
6) Outlander

Few shows have combined fantasy, romance, and action as effectively as Outlander, which is a major reason for its enduring popularity. Since its debut in 2014, the series has consistently attracted a large audience and even spawned a spin-off, running for an impressive eight seasons. The eighth and final season premiered in March 2026 and will conclude in May, bringing an incredible story to a close and solidifying Outlander‘s place as one of the best fantasy shows on television.
5) Yellowjackets

The thriller drama Yellowjackets has quickly become one of the most popular shows on television. Praised for its acting, clever use of past and present storylines, and suspenseful mysteries, Yellowjackets is a truly standout series. However, the show will conclude after its fourth season, which is planned for 2026. The ending promises a thrilling climax that’s expected to be one of the most captivating in recent TV history.
4) Hacks

As a huge comedy fan, I have to say that Hacks really delivered – especially with its fourth season in 2025. It’s quickly become one of the best shows on HBO Max, and honestly, one of the best comedies on TV, period. The show follows a veteran comedian and her young writer, and it’s so smart about the world of comedy, but also really moving when it comes to their personal lives and careers. It’s been one of HBO’s most celebrated comedies, and sadly, the fifth and final season is wrapping up in early May 2026, bringing this fantastic show to a satisfying end.
3) For All Mankind

The show For All Mankind presents a fascinating alternate history where the space race didn’t end with the first Moon landing. It’s been highly praised for its thoughtful exploration of how different historical choices could have changed things. Now, after five seasons, the show will conclude with a sixth and final season, set to premiere in 2027. As the story wraps up, fans are starting to prepare for the end of this acclaimed series.
2) The Boys

Despite its shocking and often disturbing scenes, The Boys is a truly remarkable show. It brilliantly satirizes the superhero genre, taking aim at its tropes in a way that’s both funny and thought-provoking. Based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, the show brings that world to life with unforgettable, and often gruesome, detail. Currently filming, the fifth and final season will conclude the story in 2026, promising an epic showdown between the Boys and the corrupt superheroes of Vought after years of careful storytelling.
1) The Bear

Since its debut in 2022, The Bear has quickly become a critically acclaimed and popular TV show. The series centers on a talented chef who returns to Chicago after a family tragedy to run his brother’s Italian beef sandwich shop. He aims to revamp the business while also dealing with personal grief and complex family issues. The Bear balances intense drama with moments of humor, which has resonated with a large and dedicated audience. The show’s fifth and final season is scheduled to air in 2026, concluding the story.
