Also, let’s not forget about the .

Supergirl Getting Rare Collectible to Honor Summer Blockbuster
As a huge comic and movie fan, I’m really excited about this new book from DC! It’s a 224-page collection put together by James Field, and it dives deep into the making of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. It’s packed with amazing concept art, early designs, script notes, and stuff we’ve never seen before. What’s especially cool is how it shows the connection between the comic book – created by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Matheus Lopes – and the look and feel of the movie. It really highlights how the creative team’s vision translated from page to screen.
The book showcases Evely’s vibrant artwork alongside the earliest stages of the film’s development, demonstrating how ideas, recurring elements, and key scenes evolved from the comic book’s design to the final movie. Recent interviews with the comic’s creators and the filmmakers offer a behind-the-scenes look at how Kara’s story was adapted for the screen.
As the book From Comic to Screen: The Art of Supergirl shows, it focuses heavily on the character of Kara, and also includes a tribute to Jason Momoa’s Lobo, among other things. It celebrates Supergirl’s importance to DC Comics and hints at her potential future with DC Studios.
DC: It’s the Summer of Supergirl In 2026
It’s important to remember that From Comic to Screen: The Art of Supergirl isn’t the only recent attention the character has been receiving, in addition to her movie appearances.
The first issue of DC’s Summer of Supergirl, released on June 24th, features writing by Sophie Campbell, Gail Simone, and Mark Waid. The artwork is by Cian Tormey, Emma Kubert, and Belén Ortega, with variant covers created by Tula Lotay, Pablo Villalobos, and Mahmud Asrar.
Along with the book From Comic to Screen: The Art of Supergirl, it’s clear that DC Comics fully supports James Gunn and DC Studios’ plans for Kara Zor-El (Supergirl). They’re working to tie her story to David Corenswet’s Superman, while also giving her a unique identity and her own independent storyline. This makes perfect sense, as DC Comics is clearly invested in helping Gunn build the new DC Universe, which is great news for fans of Kryptonian characters.
Supergirl will debut in theaters worldwide on June 26, 2026.
