Movie fans will soon only be able to stream one of the best sci-fi films ever made on Paramount+. Paramount+ already offers a strong selection of science fiction content, notably the popular Star Trek series, which has been a major draw for subscribers. While Paramount typically streams its own movies, it sometimes allows other services to show them as well. A critically acclaimed sci-fi film has been available on two different streaming platforms this month, but it’s moving to Paramount+ as an exclusive offering.
As a huge movie fan, I was bummed to hear that Interstellar is leaving Peacock soon. It’ll only be available on Paramount+ after this month. It’s a really powerful film about a group of astronauts and scientists desperately searching for a new planet for us all to live on, because Earth is becoming uninhabitable.
Interstellar Remains a Landmark Sci-Fi Movie

Christopher Nolan is one of the most consistently successful directors of the 21st century. In a time when a director’s name doesn’t guarantee an audience, Nolan remains a major draw. He recently earned his first Oscar, including Best Picture and Best Director, for Oppenheimer. While his film Tenet, a complex time-travel story, proved challenging for some, it still performed well in theaters as they reopened after the pandemic.
Christopher Nolan’s 2014 film, Interstellar, is widely considered a standout achievement. The sci-fi epic was well-received by critics, earned $773 million worldwide on a $165 million budget, and received five Academy Award nominations. It’s particularly celebrated for its intelligence and realism, with many scientists commending Nolan’s accurate portrayal of complex concepts and stunning visuals.
The film features a compelling story starring Matthew McConaughey as Coop, a widowed pilot who volunteers for a crucial NASA mission. With Earth becoming uninhabitable due to climate change, Coop journeys into space to find a new planet for humanity. The narrative explores his connections with NASA scientist Dr. Amelia Brand (played by Anne Hathaway) and his daughter, Murph, portrayed at different ages by Mackenzie Foy, Jessica Chastain, and Ellen Burstyn. While the movie is complex, particularly in its depiction of black holes and their effect on time and space, this scientific depth is a major draw for science fiction enthusiasts.
Paramount+ offers a wide variety of sci-fi movies, including recent releases like Edgar Wright’s The Running Man and the entire Terminator series. You’ll find intelligent films such as Arrival, alongside classics like Steven Spielberg’s Minority Report and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Total Recall. But the inclusion of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar really makes Paramount+ a great choice for science fiction enthusiasts.
