A new trailer for the upcoming remake of Dragon Ball Super has revealed a surprising character return that fans won’t see coming. As part of the celebration of Dragon Ball‘s 40th anniversary, the franchise is making a big comeback, starting with a completely revamped anime series that will retell the story from the beginning. However, the biggest surprise is connected to Dragon Ball Super: Beerus.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus would be a special remake of the Battle of Gods story arc. During the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 event, a new trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was revealed, and it was confirmed that Frieza will also appear. This suggests the remake will likely include the Resurrection ‘F’ arc as well. You can watch the trailer below.
What to Know for New Dragon Ball Super Anime Remake
The new anime, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, is scheduled to premiere in Japan this fall, though an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, nor have plans for its release outside of Japan. This series will be an updated version of the ‘Battle of Gods’ story from the original Dragon Ball Super anime, but the latest trailer hints at the return of Frieza. This scene wasn’t included in the original TV series and could mean the ‘Resurrection F’ arc will be remade as well.
The upcoming re-release of Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is promising a significant upgrade from the original Battle of Gods arc. It will include new scenes, revised existing footage, completely re-done visuals, new dubbing with enhanced audio, and a restructured storyline. This suggests that the added scenes featuring Frieza, hinted at by voice actor Masako Nozawa, are indeed part of the package.
Dragon Ball Super Teases Frieza Anime Remake Coming Next

The trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is finally here! As Nozawa excitedly shared, the fight between Goku and Beerus looks incredible. And there’s a surprise – Frieza shows up at the end! Fans can look forward to a more powerful version of the Goku vs. Frieza rivalry. Nozawa also hinted that this new series will cover events beyond the Battle of Gods arc, promising even more action and adventure.
The popular anime Dragon Ball Super is expanding its story with a new series based on the ‘Galactic Patrol Prisoner’ arc from the manga. Titled Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, this new anime will cover events involving Beerus and Frieza and set the stage for the future of the Dragon Ball franchise. While an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet, fans can look forward to seeing this manga arc come to life in animated form.
