As a big fan of How to Train Your Dragon, I was really interested to hear that the voice actor who played Drago in the second movie is hoping to come back, even with the live-action remake happening and them recasting his character. He’s said he’d love to be involved again, and it’s cool to see him express that, especially with all the talk about the changes they’re making to the cast for the new film.
Djimon Hounsou on if he could return to How To Train Your Dragon
Djimon Hounsou has spoken about potentially reprising his role in the upcoming live-action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ movie, as the project undergoes some casting changes. While he hasn’t been asked to join the new film yet, he’s interested in the possibility of returning.
In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Djimon Hounsou discussed his time working on the film and called the role an important one for his career. He expressed interest in returning for future installments, saying he enjoyed the experience – especially since it was his first animated project – and noted he learned that animated performances require a much larger-than-life approach.
Djimon Hounsou confirmed he hasn’t been contacted about appearing in any of the upcoming live-action films, saying he’s waiting to hear from the producers. However, he expressed his enthusiasm about potentially rejoining the franchise, adding that it would be especially exciting for his children to see him involved.
The new movie version of the story has a new actor, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, playing the character Drago. Some of the original voice actors are back, but others have been replaced as the film develops.
How to Train Your Dragon 2, the animated sequel, was a big hit with both audiences and critics, grossing over $621 million globally.
