Okay, huge warning – if you’re not caught up with the One Piece manga, seriously, spoilers ahead! As a long-time fan, I can tell you the Elbaph Arc is absolutely blowing my mind right now! We’ve been waiting over twenty years for this arc to really kick off, and it’s delivering in a big way – so many new characters and finally, some real answers about the Void Century! Things went crazy when the Holy Knights attacked the Giants shortly after the Straw Hats arrived. Luffy and the crew, of course, got right in the middle of it, and just when they seemed to be making progress, everything took a really dark turn. Imu, this mysterious ruler we’ve known about for eight years, finally showed their face recently, and it’s… well, it’s a game changer!
From my vantage point, the main villain operates from Pangea Castle, almost never coming down to the world below. But things have been going badly for his forces – the Holy Knights haven’t been able to defeat Elbaph. He even briefly possessed Gunko, trying to take control directly, but realized that wasn’t enough. Seeing his subordinates consistently fail, he’s finally decided he has to step in personally. The latest manga chapter, 1180, shows him preparing for a major confrontation in Elbaph, facing off against Loki, the Prince of the island.
One Piece Prepares For Imu vs. Loki in Elbaph Arc

Loki has a long-standing grudge against Imu stemming from an event 14 years prior involving King Harald of Elbaph. Harald desperately tried to work with the World Government, hoping to secure a brighter future for his people, the Giants. However, Imu and the Five Elders exploited Harald, intending to steal his power and destroy his kingdom. Fourteen years ago, Imu manipulated Harald, turning him into a puppet and forcing him to kill his own loyal followers. Many guards perished at Aurust Castle before Loki was tragically compelled to eat a powerful Devil Fruit and kill his own father.
Imu is furious that Loki ruined all his careful plans and killed one of his followers. Meanwhile, Loki wants to honor his father’s last wish – a desperate plea to be killed before he lost control and caused widespread destruction. The upcoming chapter will showcase a battle between these two incredibly powerful figures, and the outcome will decide the future of the Giants’ homeland, Elbaph.
