We already knew Sydney Sweeney, Noah Centineo, and Michael Mando would be starring, and now there’s a major new update that fans are sure to love.
The live-action Gundam movie is officially in production, Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks have announced. Filming began this month in Queensland, Australia. The cast includes Jackson White (known from Tell Me Lies), Shioli Kutsuna (Deadpool & Wolverine), Nonso Anozie (Sweet Tooth), Javon “Wanna” Walton (Under the Bridge), Oleksandr Rudynskyi (The Agency), Ida Brooke (Dune: Part Three), Gemma Chua-Tran (Heartbreak High), and Jason Isaacs, who has appeared in The White Lotus, Harry Potter, and The Death of Stalin.
Gundam Fans Have Wanted a Live-Action Movie For a Long Time

Big news for fans of Gundam! The live-action film that everyone’s been waiting for is officially moving forward. While Legendary and Bandai Namco Filmworks first announced the project in 2021, plans have changed a few times since then. Initially, Jordan Vogt-Roberts, known for directing Kong: Skull Island, was set to direct, but he later left. Jim Mickle, who worked on Sweet Tooth, eventually took over as director and is also writing the script. Things got even more exciting when Sweeney, known for her roles in The Housemaid and Euphoria, joined the cast last year.
Production on the live-action Gundam movie is happening, but some details are still being worked out. We don’t have a release date yet, and it’s not clear whether it will be shown in theaters or stream on Netflix. The cast’s roles haven’t been announced either. Despite the limited information, the fact that the movie is moving forward is great news, and we’re looking forward to hearing more updates.
