Emmerdale airs dramatic Charity Dingle birth scenes as her life hangs in the balance in early ITVX release

Yesterday’s episode of Emmerdale ended with a shocking scene: Charity Dingle (played by Emma Atkins) experienced a very difficult and upsetting childbirth, leaving viewers worried about her.

Things didn’t go as planned when her labor started unexpectedly while she and her husband, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb), were stuck on a rural road without their phones. Ironically, the only person who happened to drive by was Ross Barton (Michael Parr), who has a troubled past with Charity.

The baby actually belongs to her, but she’s letting her granddaughter, Sarah Sugden, believe that Sarah and her husband, Jacob, are the parents. She previously acted as a surrogate for Sarah.

Things became even more complicated when Charity, knowing Mack was unsure if he was the baby’s father, falsely suggested he might be.

Mack and Ross unexpectedly found themselves helping with a delivery at the hospital when their car stopped working.

Today on the show, Charity was experiencing intense pain and was terrified at the possibility of going into labor while stuck in an elevator. Meanwhile, Mack started having disturbing memories of being held captive in John Sugden’s underground bunker, and his anxiety grew with each passing minute as he felt increasingly trapped.

Ross tried to get help over the elevator’s intercom, but was told he’d have to deliver the baby on his own.

Sarah arrived at the hospital ward and was puzzled to find her grandmother hadn’t been officially checked in. At the same time, Jacob was in a difficult HR meeting, courageously reporting his intimidating boss, Dr. Todd (Caroline Harker), for bullying. He didn’t realize a baby was being born elsewhere in the hospital.

After finishing up the meeting, he was shocked to see a series of missed calls on his phone.

Todd confronted the person, demanding an explanation for their meeting with HR. He angrily accused them of wrongdoing and stated he was no longer intimidated by them.

Jacob, still upset and walking quickly, came upon a surprising scene near the elevator. Ross had just helped deliver a baby, but there was a lot of blood on the floor.

Okay, so the tension really ratchets up here. Jacob, clearly panicked, has to overcome whatever’s holding him back and desperately seeks out Dr. Todd. The situation is dire – Charity’s seriously injured, losing blood, and he needs immediate help. Thankfully, the fire department arrives on the scene quickly and manages to force open the doors, finally getting to Charity. It’s a really gripping sequence, and you’re on the edge of your seat wondering if they’ll reach her in time.

Todd discovered that Charity had lost approximately 1.5 litres of blood. Will she be OK?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and from 7am on ITVX.
