Live-Action Chainsaw Man Adaptation Shares Major Update With New Trailer

The manga series Chainsaw Man concluded earlier this year with an ending that sparked a lot of debate among fans. Although the creator, Tatsuki Fujimoto, is moving on from this devilish world, there’s still more Chainsaw Man content on the way. Studio MAPPA is producing a new anime project following Chainsaw Man The Movie: The Reze Arc, titled Chainsaw Man: Assassins Arc. Plus, to build on the series’ popularity, a live-action adaptation is being made, and a trailer has just been released to get fans excited.

Later this year, from July to August, Japan will host a live-action stage play called Chainsaw Man The Stage: Reze Arc. The play follows the story of Reze, the Bomb Devil, as she tries to steal the powers of the Chainsaw Devil, all while a tragic romance unfolds. Yui Soma will play Reze, and several actors from the first Chainsaw Man stage production are reprising their roles, including Naotake Tsuchiya as Denji, Mizuki Umezu as Aki Hayakawa, Mahiru Koda as Power, and Aya Hirano as Makima. You can watch the trailer below.

Reze’s Live-Action Debut

Yui Soma, who has been cast as Reze in “Chainsaw Man: The Stage – Reze Arc,” expressed her excitement about the role. She said she feels honored and is committed to portraying Reze’s complex emotions and captivating personality with sincerity, hoping to create a memorable performance for audiences.

Fumiya Matsuzaki, who wrote and directs the new stage play, spoke about bringing the character Reze to life. He said the cast and crew immediately shared a strong vision for the production, and he’s thankful for everyone involved in the previous version. It’s been three years since the famous ball-kicking scene and blackout, and now “Chainsaw Man The Stage” is moving onto the Reze story arc. While the overall look of the show will be familiar, Matsuzaki promises they’ve improved their skills and techniques, and will deliver a performance that blends beautiful moments with over-the-top action. He hopes both fans of “Chainsaw Man” and theatergoers will enjoy it.

After the conclusion of the second part of Chainsaw Man earlier this year, many fans questioned whether this was the end of Denji’s story. While the tale of the Chainsaw Devil reached a clear ending, the creator, Fujimoto, hasn’t suggested a return to this violent world. Even if Chainsaw Man doesn’t continue in Weekly Shonen Jump, the series’ impact will undoubtedly be felt for a long time.
