Metal Gear Solid 4 Gets an Enemy-Detecting Threat Ring in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2

Following the positive reception of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Konami is enhancing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots with new features in the upcoming Master Collection Vol. 2. One addition is the “Threat Ring,” a visual indicator that shows how close enemies are to Solid Snake.

You can judge how dangerous enemies are by looking at their size and color while staying safely hidden. Activating the Threat Ring—which highlights nearby dangers—requires you to be crouching or lying down, encouraging a stealthy approach to the game.

This builds on a feature called Flashback, which we launched earlier this month. During certain moments in the game, Snake and other characters will remember events from the past, showing how this story connects to previous Metal Gear Solid games. These memories might appear as short scenes cut into the current action, offering extra background. This is especially helpful if you’re new to the series or haven’t played the older games recently, as it provides important context.

The second volume of Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection will be available on August 27th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and both Nintendo Switch models. This collection includes Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and online multiplayer will still be available for that game. Fans are hoping for some improvements to make the game even better, and more details will be shared soon.
