Wait a minute – a big company in the gaming industry is actually reducing the price of one of its products? It seems unbelievable, but it’s happening.
Microsoft has immediately lowered the monthly price for both Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.
Okay, so I just saw the prices dropped on a bunch of stuff! The Ultimate version went from $29.99 (or £22.99) down to $22.99 (£16.99). And if you’re a PC player and subscribe, it’s cheaper now too – it’s going from $16.49 (£13.49) to $13.99 (£10.99) a month. Not a bad deal!
Currently, the most expensive PlayStation Plus subscription, PS Plus Premium, costs $17.99 a month or £13.49. While Xbox isn’t significantly cheaper than PlayStation, the prices are now very similar.
Okay, so here’s the catch. Apparently, the reason Game Pass might get cheaper is because they’re no longer going to put new Call of Duty games on the service right when they come out. As a big fan, that’s a bit disappointing, but I guess it makes sense if they want to lower the price.
Look, Microsoft basically had to raise the price of Game Pass. It’s simple – with how many people were using it, and how awesome it was becoming, they needed to make it sustainable. They didn’t really see another way to keep it going and still offer all that great content.
Microsoft raised Game Pass prices last October, but with new leadership at Xbox, they’ve decided to adjust those prices again.
So, what are your thoughts on this? Does this price drop make Game Pass Ultimate look more appealing? And do you think Sony should be taking notice? Let us know what price you would offer in the comments!
